MY2020 Updates!!!

-With MY2020, every 5 series model now comes with the new Live Cockpit Professional with a 12.3" Digitial Instrument Cluster and 10.25" Center Display. This Live Cockpit will come with the same BMW iDrive 7.0 Operating System that launched on the G05 X5.

-With the upgraded head unit, each car will now have updated Sport Displays in the center display and updated steering wheel buttons.

-In the center console, a USB-C port has replaced the USB-A port to allow for faster charging times (3A current). The USB port near the cup holders remains as a USB-A port.

-The 530e battery has been increased by ~25% from 9.2 to 12 kWh.

-The M550i xDrive receives an upgraded N63 engine, increasing its power to 523 hp (+67 hp vs MY19) leading to a 0-60 mph of 3.6 seconds (-0.3 sec)!
Helping to control all this power, it also receives a standard limited slip differential.

-In terms of equipment, on the 530i/530e/540i models, the following options have been made standard.

Comfort Access (322)

-On the M550xi, the following options have been made standard
Heated Front Seats (494)
M Sport Differential (2T4)

-For the MY20 5 Series, the premium contenting package structure has been slightly modified. Higher tier packages now include the content and price of the lower tiers. For example, Executive Package includes the content and price from Premium Package and Convenience Package and the packages are not combinableience. Overall, pricing remains unchanged.

Package changes include:

As Comfort Access has been made standard, Convienence Package (ZCV) includes Automatic Tailgate (316), Heated Front Seats (494), and Satellite Radio with 1 year subscription (655). Pricing is $850.

M Sport (ZMP) and Luxury Package (ZPL) now include SensaTec Dashboard (4AW)

As the digital instrument cluster is now standard, 6WB is no longer offered in Executive Package.

Thanks for sharing! Surprised about the USB-C port- not complaining at all just surprised.

Everything needs to go USB-C!

Agreed. This is a wide and long car. When parking sometimes is hard to judge where the front corners of the car are and feel the 360 camera is a great parking aid.

Can you help a noob understand? Is SOP = start of production?

Also could we in Canada expect roughly the same release date as in the US?

Also where are the US/Canada cars built?

Wow - if you go from an Accord to an M550i you are going to think you are piloting the Millennium Falcon!

I hope so!

Might be weird to say, but to be honest it's a hard decision.

I have a 6 speed manual 2.0 and it's really fun, in some ways the Honda actually seems to have more pep at lower range (I test drove a 19 m550i last week), but I think I'm just feeling the difference between having full control over the gears vs an automatic. It also has exactly the controls you need in the right places, simple intuitive layout with no unneeded complexity, no need to navigate through menus for things (things that should just be buttons or knobs, are) carplay which works great, very responsive touch pad for most other functions (no wheel or other pointless gimmicks), cool wheels, and interior is very nice (feels much more upmarket than it actually is).

You basically can't get a standard in sedans at that size anymore, and of those you can (accord and mazda6) they are usually not stocked. It also looks nice, has the largest backseat of any midsize (good for carseats and kids when you don't like SUV's), handles shockingly well for a family sedan, and will of course be super reliable as a Honda.

The downsides are it doesn't have BMW power and luxury, no all wheel drive, you pay for servicing from day 1, no leather (if you want leather you can't have a manual), and my wife says clutching bothers her knee lol.

I did. Pretty sweet but not blown away like I was expecting. I'm going to wait for the 2020, does the SOP of Jul 2019 on the order guide mean we can expect to price them on BMW website by Jul?

Enjoy it. You still got a great car and something most people would only dream of ever be able to afford.

You can't never keep up with the greatest and latest. It's a losing proposition.

Unfortunately with the iDrive 7.0, one will not be able to code anymore. Those features were removed from iDrive 7.0, as there are now with the X5.

LCI will likely have a huge grill. I'm still trying to get used to the 7 series LCI grill. It's kind of ridiculous looking.

And, you've got tried and true. mature technology and an engine they've been slowly improving for a few years now. 2020 starts with ID7 and a new N63 edition. Likely means early adopters will spend a bit more time visiting their service department. Just ask anyone with an iDrive7 car how thrilled they are with it.
