Ventilated seats feel like always HOT

So fiancé and I are convinced the cooling for seats in 19 M550 actually make the seats hotter than if you leave cooling off. I know they are ventilated only and not AC, but it literally warms up your back. Anyone else notice

I can't feel the ventilation normally. But if I am coming off exercise, so I am sweaty, then I do feel the ventilation helping.

AC its not but it does ventilate. Marginal usefulness.

We have ventilated seats in our '19 X3 and they work ok. Similar results and feel to SteveinArizona.

We had them on today in 90 degree heat and it was somewhat better with them than without.

I have the exact same feeling in my G30. I also had ventilated seats in my 2010 F10 and they were wonderful. They made a huge difference, you could feel them cooling.

Definitely feel them as I drive home from the golf course in the afternoons, with clothes damp from sweating. Otherwise, I agree that the feeling is minimal.

Common sense tells me that if the ambient air around the seat is hot then it will blow hot air through the seat.

I live in Florida as well, and while the ventilated seats are not very effective, I find they do help a little. To me, it does not feel any warmer with the ventilation on.

I get they pump ambient air in the seats, but I feel like they are cooler with them off. I'm having my ECU reset by dealer next week and who knows, maybe I inadvertently screwed something up when coding some features? Yes in F10 M5 the seats actually cooled you and it was nice, strange the new cars aren't the same.

Great, let me know if you find anything. Did you code something on the seats module? I was under the impresion that F series, was actually sucking air, not blowing towards you.

I don't think you did anything to screw up the ventilating seats. They just aren't as good as most people have come to expect/should be in an expensive car like this.

If my 2012 F150 can knock it out of the park when it comes to heating/cooling seats, I'd expect my $75,000 2017 BMW to have the same feature, if not better.

Try this. Set your climate mode to direct air to both the vents and to the floor. It directs cool air to under the seats where they pickup air for the ventilated seats. It’s not a night and day difference, but it helps.

I’ve owned many vehicles with ventilated seats and consider them a must have. Very few of them work really well. The best I’ve ever felt is in the newer Ford Heavy Duty Pickup Trucks. But no, I’m still not buying one. But my last boss had one (I’m retired now)

Funny isn't it! Would just be so nice if a dedicated ac tube went to our seats. But trucks these days are pretty optioned out compared to 20 yrs ago

I've actually thought about making a tube that takes half of the rear passengers floor ac vent and directs it to wherever the intake is on the drivers seat. Should be difficult but just need to make it durable and out of the way just in case it does get kicked.

Just an FYI...there can be up to nine fans distributed between the upper and lower sections of the seat (depending on model and seat options offered)....looks like the G30 uses 8 fans. See the images below from the BMW www.newtis.info website in regards to the fans embedded in the active ventilated seats:

That's actually pretty impressive, I always thought in last car and this one it was a single main fan. Pretty interesting
Thanks for posting

The only thing my car has, option wise, that my Son's F150 Platinum does not have is gesture control. Has all the driving assistants, the ACC, Carplay, etc. Ecoboost turbo V6 is pretty quick for a vehicle that size. The seat ventilation roars in the truck. It's amazing. Don't want one, but just sayin'.

Part of article says in idrive you can change where airflow comes from back vs cushion. I have never seen this adjustment in I drive. Where is it hidden?

Feel like that's a typo, you can try pressing the menu button on the AC panel. I'm away from my car right now.

Go into air conditioning Or climate I forget what it's called, select seats and you can chose more seat or more back flow. I can't remember but might only be for heat
