LED Fog lights

Is there a way to keep the fog lights on at all times instead of pressing the button every time I start the car?

No. Why would you want to drive with the fog lights on all the time?

Conspicuity - if we need DRL's and they're a safety feature then surely the more the merrier?

they are not designed for day time just to pick out kerbs when visibility is bad.
In the UK strictly speaking they should only be on in visibility of 100m or less.

they can also cause glare if roads are wet so not appreciated by other drivers.

suggest leave as they are....

You can code this, but then you lose ability to toggle them.

As the law is in most countries. Peeps who think they need their foggies on all the time are simply, complete w@nkers. Especially the people who need their rears on. So irritating to drive behind them. Also makes it more difficult to notice their brake lights.

i love the hate for such a simple question- mostly from people not in the states.. not sure why... when literally hundreds of cars do this with their DRLs lol so i dont know about these laws you speak of. I agree id want to be able to at least have them in some auto mode. Theyre fog lights, theyre not blinding anyone.

Check your state laws regarding the use of fog lights outside of low visibility conditions.

Fog lights are designed to be so bright that theyare visible in fog, so yes, they are irritating to eyes in normal conditions, especially at night. If they aren't, they're not doing their jobs! They shouldn't be allowed in any normal visibility conditions. I found weird that in US, fog lights are allowed any time, but laser lights are not even allowed to "exist" on cars. Regulations are really behind.

This is true. However, most auto manufacturers these days do not make “fog” lights this bright due to government/DOT standards, so they’re really not that useful in real dense fog situations to assist the driver. If that’s what you’re going for, then you’ll need to look into aftermarket options.

What factory “fog” lights are really only good for, and used for, is to let other drivers on the road see you better in foggy conditions. Sometimes this can be confused with some cars that have DRL’s on the lower part of the bumper, making it appear like they’re fog lights that are constantly turned on.

Precisely. Every car I’ve had with dedicated fog lights all they really end up doing is casting light on the pavement n a bit on a bumper. And with what you mentioned with other cars who use them as secondary drls it’s exactly what it looks like even on the BMW. Ironically the LED and Bi Xenon headlights distract n blind people way more in general.

Front fog lights are there for drivers to see and rear fog lights are there for the driver to be seen. Front fog lights are set downwards and very unlikely to blind other drivers

To your chagrin I imagine have you found a way to code them to go on with DRLs alone or do they only work with full headlights?

In case you haven't noticed, people in most other countries aren't very happy with the U.S. at the moment and I'm sure it bleeds over into other things like automotive forums.

Oh don’t you worry I agree with those sentiments too, it’s a sad time indeed, hence why I distract myself with such a materialistic thing like a car...but automotively we have some weird laws that mean nothing like our forced side markers- which I doubt I’ll hear anyone hear bring up breaking the law about when people color match those.

No coding is necessary to enable fogs with DRL's. Coupling to DRL or low beams disables ability to toggle them on/off. There are just some features I will not code.

My 2019 non m sport don't even have fog light for whatever reason...

In any case I don't think it's a good idea to use fog light as DLR as others were saying, though to be fair To the OP i have not seen actually how blinding or not blinding the g30 fog lights are... I just don't see the need for secondary DLR
