BMW has returned the CarPlay subscription back to 20 years (also called lifetime) for a $300 fee, or you can stay with the current option of $80 per year. For those of you that may not remember, CarPlay was a $300 individual option on 2017-2018 vehicles. People called it lifetime, but it was always 20 years. I'm happy they returned this option to us, especially for those of us that own our vehicles.

Great. Lifetime of the tech in these cars isn't going to be anywhere near 20 years. Pretty bold of BMW to offer a 20 year subscription.

Of course not. At least they brought the option back like it was in 2017. I would prefer to pay $300 once versus $80 a year. I just renewed mine today with a new expiration date in 2040. I own this car, so it makes sense for me.

I probably won't bother with it if mine expires. Not too happy with the wireless functionality, prefer the benefits of having a wired connection with my phone jailbroken.

I've never had any issues including my old '17 X6 which was one of the first models with wireless CarPlay.
