some of these colours look 'flat' in dull conditions but do 'pop' in bright sunshine.
I am sure BMW will add / change colours as as the model years progress.
when I visited the Munich plant earlier this month, pretty sure the guide daid over 50% of cars ordered were either black or white compared to silver some years back.

But good point about 17 colors mostly looking very similar.....you'd need to spend hours in the showroom differentiating them! True also that M-cars can justify a more dramatic hue.
I think that's just because BMW have never offered the 5 series in a proper red color. If Audi can offer the A6 in Misano red, which I think looks great, BMW should offer the 5 series in somethnig like Melbourne red.

Misano Red A6.

Clearly some markets offer more choices than others. There are only 5 or 6 colours in Canada for the 5er and all but one (Med Blue) is on the black and white spectrum. What's wrong with red? There's something just insufferably snooty about the assumption that upscale car buyers don't like colour. Such rubbish.

End of rant.

Canada gets the same colors as other markets, the problem is that Canada only gets G30s with the M-sport package and that limits the numbers of colors.

Agreed the A6 looks good.....but still can't quite imagine a G30 in that color!

But I don't want an A6 anyway

I had a red E39 some years ago. So this is a more recent BMW color decision. The G30 colors in h=general appear to be very limited, at least on the website, but even for the M550 which is showing more choices, there is no red.

Red is a mixed blessing. It sure does stand out. It allows easy tracking by police. And it may make it harder to sell used. I suspect that one reason BMW is not offering is the high percentage of leases.

The other thing with red is that it seems to be the only colour that is prone to fading. Can look awful after a few years if it fades and heads towards orange or even pink!

What’s the color of the new 5 series in the BMW commercial with Clint Eastwood’s son?

Christo, great choice!

After 12 weeks with my car, I'm still in love with the Sophisto. Shines differently from every angle!

Best wishes with your new car......

Love my bluestone. Most of my cars have been a traditional grey or white. I?m very glad I made the move to bluestone. It looks especially good with the shadow line trim.

Many dealers in the US don't want the color and material displays as they want to sell what is in stock. Prefer that customer not order the cars. Seeing color samples might disrupt the sales process. In the US, very few of BMWs customers order custom. Hence, the vehicles on the lots are mostly shades of black, gray, and sometimes white. And 90% of the Interiors are black. BMW NA is forcing them to install the color displays as they remodel, or lose some financial benefits.

I’ve had to order ever bmw as a result. So many of the same cars in my location I need at least something. Of course in the 5 that’s literally one shade of blue. While I really like bluestone, it’s really just gray. I really don’t get the obsession with the only black interiors n what some of these dealers option their cars like. They iverpricevthen with insane safety stuff but the. Take out some of the nicer cosmetic or performance. I’ve seen some 70k base looking 5 series just due to this... cuz apparently everyone needs night vision but not led headlights.

I had a wander around a large used car site yesterday just as something to do (would never buy from this place!) and was looking around the BMWs especially the F10s and what was obvious was the lack of colours. All Black or grey or something very similar.

I have bluestone myself and think this is such a nice colour. As it's name suggests there is blue present but look closer and there is a grey metallic undertone in there and indeed under certain light conditions it can appear more grey than blue. But it is lighter shade and stands out.

it's one of those colours you have to see in person, the sales literature does not portray it accurately at all, not even close .

One of the biggest limitations with BMW is the extremely limited colour choices for M-aSport. It’s either white, blue, black a few different shades of grey.

Volvo on the other hand offer a palette of imaginative colours which include Pine, Burgendy, Champagne and baby blue.

Bluestone is terrific colour though and is at the top of my list.

+1 Dcinlv - I was not aware that my bluestone too had the shadow line (black high gloss trim) and the orbit grey wheels and also exhaust as far as I can see, but it looks very nice...
