yes I enjoyed watching that. all about the tech - fair enough but wiuld have like to have heard more about the handling.
small thing I noticed is that the clock on the dashboard can be displayed as numerals rather than as an analogue one.
asume this was sophisto grey model?

I see no blue, and it looks too dark for Sophisto gray. I actually think it's Sapphire black.

8:30 Talks about the amazing 3D remote viewing. Would really love an expanded discussion as to how this actually works. From there he gets on to the actual drive.
11:00 Says that the drive is nothing exciting. Then again his daily is an FF and he just spent the week in the new Panamera which was described as among the best handling sports sedans in the world. He also said that, as good as the new Panamera is, it couldn't replace the FF.

So I guess he's not replacing the FF with a G30 then?

He also tossed the Display Key on to the wireless charging mat with what looked like a power closing console box cover. Any idea how long the battery in the Display Key fob lasts? And the size of that thing - I'd hate to wear jeans with that.

Depends where in your jeans you put it - positioned strategically, it could actually improve your chances with the ladies!

Would have to ask 7 Series owners about the battery life of the display key (they use the same key)

It can also be charged via USB cable

Uses 4 cameras to see around the car and creates a "3D " image from them

I'm sure this is Sophisto gray. It definitely IS a very dark color (my sister had it on her F11).

Up to two weeks... though my dealer said that you cannot open the car anymore when the key is empty... gonna wait for that to test and hold to my normal key until then...

Did anyone spot the Porsche Design logo on his phone? Freudian slip? As commented elsewhere, the overriding assessment of its drive was how quiet it is. Sssh, repeat, did he say quiet?!! Hope I get to hear my on order 530d growl a bit when I press on....

Test drove a 540 msport last weekend, 76k USD car. This car is amazing. Ripping it at 60-80 mph around tight corners on the track was a breeze and loved making the tires scream. It's no slouch either. Hitting 110+ mph after doing a cone set at 45 mph was effortless. I did it at a track in West Palm Beach. The car fucks. I'm impressed with what BMW did. I've also done similar tests with all the M's in Homestead at the NASCAR race track and the new 5 felt similar to the m5 in handling.

What do you need to make this work, connected drive option and rear camera option ?

I may get tempted with the V8 and 550, but I cant help but think the 540 is going to be the sweet spot of value meeting performance.

You need the "Parking Assistance Plus" (Option 5DN)
And "Remote Services" (Option 6AP)
And Exterior mirrors – folding, with anti-dazzle (Option 4T8)

Haha very true! In all seriousness I wouldn't trust giving this Display Key to a valet for nothing. In the regular key fob you pull out the pin to put the car in valet mode. What do you do with this thing? If I had the Display Key I'd use this fob exclusively but what do you do if you spontaneously decide to stop at a nice restaurant?

I think the coolest thing is to turn it on and record video of your car when you go to shopping centers/movie theatres etc. and if the resolution were high enough to capture surrounding vehicles' license plates that may hit your car. I highly doubt BMW would ever offer this kind of feature out of the box so this may be something that you could do with coding. I have a security camera that looks directly at my car in my building so the neighboring cars know better. But this could be hugely useful if you park on the street, if you could manage the parasitic battery drain issue of having cameras always on and a hard drive for the resulting video.

I thought I was the only one! Kind of makes you wonder if it was some sort of product placement on Porsche Design's part as he does have quite a following. Too bad he couldn't use it as the car only supports Apple Car Play for now.
