Probably G30 due to better engine options (at this time). Freaking E43 "AMG" dynamically is equal to 535i but starts over $72k... Next one down is E300 with poor 2.0t.

I think it'll vary month-to-month based on incentives and things of that nature. But the Merc has pretty lame engine options. A fairly loaded E300 will probably come out to the same MSRP as a similarly-equipped 535.
I was driving near one today and thought it was a C-class until I saw the "E300" badge. No matter how you feel about the G30's styling, at least it'll never be confused with a 3er. |

I believe the G30 if not for brand loyalty.
Most German magazines have compared them head to head (with also the A6 in the mix) and the G30 won each time hands down...

I think there are more people buying luxury cars for the brand rather than looking at the engines.

You can look at past data of previous model. E-class seems to definitely move more volume each and every year. We will see if the G30 changes that trend. 2013 - E- 69,803, 5- 52,704 2014 - E- 66,400, 5- 52,704 2015 - E- 49,736, 5- 44,162 2016 - E- 46,740, 5- 32,408 |

What a way to make it look like their sales are up, even with the extra models included against the 5er, its still not far behind in sales. Might as well throw the 6er, coupe, gran coupe and make it fair.

G30 if my experience is anything to go by.
I had a E220d Premium plus on order but it got delayed due to parts shortages. They could not supply the Pano Roof, Dashboard or Drive Assist and could not confirm how long the problem would last. I cancelled and ordered a 530d M/S which wasn't available at the time I had to place the original order. Think I'll be much better off

Give it a year and they'll be neck and neck once again. The Merc has the upper hand right now with F10s still on the lots. |

If I were to buy a 4 cylinder engine, I would go with Mercedes. But who is buying a 4 cylinder slug, when a powerful 6 cylinder is available. My vote, 540 hands down.

My guess is we will see the new M256 inline 6-cylinder make its way into the E-class and across their range of cars.

Until that happens, why would you get a Mercedes? I can get a honda accord 4 cylinder that runs just as good. These are Premium Cars, should have premium engines. 540 numbers are unbelievable, I can't wait for mine to come in so I can see what it can do.
