Very interesting. Around the Clare/Limerick area there are not many G30's around. Having said that I don't see many E-Class or A6's either.

The extra £300.00 road tax on cars costing more than £4000.00 is killing off sales of big expensive cars. Majority of new cars sold are small hatchbacks to mid range SUVs. According to reports more used cars have been sold compared to new cars this year.

Today on my 20 mile commute from work to home, I saw 3 G30s. The Alpine White one had a black grill somehow I didn't like it as much as I thought I would.

Tony, I see a few but not yet as ubiquitous as the F10. When I was looking around to change dealers were downplaying their expectations about sales..apart from the 5 being number one in its segment so far I think Audi and Mercedes are outrunning them in overall units

Well E class cars are even rarer. I have probably seen only 2 compared to C class and BMW 4 series that are everywhere

Company Car Pattern?

I recall seeing a statistic that looked something like this:-

80% of BMW's on the road in the UK are 520D's
And of those 520D's some 80% are company cars.

Even if this is wily out, I think here could be the reason for the lack of G30's out there

1. If the bulk are company cars, then you have to 'wait' until people are DUE to get a new car (every 3-4 years in the UK)

2. Diesel - Income Tax on Co2 - My company only allow Diesels still, painful due to new legislation and the Diesel hate gang and you pay 3% more tax than petrol... but my point is people might be going for MUCH cheaper diesels, even 320D's instead..

I have had mine since the firstrst release date, and to be honest I have seen no more than 10 examples on the road in 5 months (and 5 of those were courtesy cars for players at Wentworth!)

I've just ordered a 530e for my next company car. The BIK saving is huge over my 62 plate F11 520d. Will save me over £5k in 3 years over a new 520d. I think this model will be huge in the UK as company drivers get to reorder. I am now looking for G30's on the road and have seen 4 in the last 8 weeks, very rare still.

I spent last week driving in England and expected to see loads of G30's including the spec I have ordered (M Sport in Med blue with Ivory) but only saw a handful of G30's and only one was Med blue (black interior) - very surprised.

I currently have an E Class (W212) and am amazed by the volume that are taxis. I have the doors permanently on auto lock in case a passenger attempts to jump in - on one had it must be testimony of their build but doubtful I would get another.

Yes, there are a load of F10's around but when you look at the number plates the do range from '10 regs to 162 regs.

Well BMW 4 series are everywhere. I mean 2017 plate numbers. Is there anybody that has data regarding 4 series sales in UK?

This.

Further more discounts on the 3-Series are utterly insane. There is so much inventory that dealers are selling them at cost or below. Dealer margins on the 3-Series is 26%.

As others have also noted, SUV are very popular and for the same money as the 5-Series, some people rather buy an Evoque, Q5, X3 or GLC.

Luxury sedans aren't as coveted as they were 10 years ago.

This is exactly why I've done the same. Added to all the noises within the industry saying Diesels will be well and truly crucified in the autumn statement, it seems the only sensible way to go.

I've only seen a handful around London/ South East UK (although new 7 series is even rarer!).

Just placed an order for a 530i because of moves against diesel cars; but I did consider the Merc GLC and new Volvo XC60 before deciding against diesel - thus in line with comments about medium SUVs earlier in this thread.

Apparently got a build slot in September. So should get it by October at the latest but if the dealer and BMW UK think there is a chance to get it in time to register in September/Q3... we'll see!

As a former Londoner, I have realised that mid range luxurious cars are not as a common sight in London as would be expected. I am not talking of Oligarchs super cars.

I was surprised at the number of midrange luxurious cars on moving over here compared to London. I might be wrong
