started 15th May 2017 and was with dealer 13th June so roughly 4 weeks

my thread below of build:http://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1380961

For us northerners our cars go to immingham and leave cux

so anyone gettign a northern delivery their could be on this ship today to get to immingham tomorrow:
https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels...MMSI-255801580

For the southerners normally auto eco but this is in southampton now and seems to change its pattern.

Hope this helps

That is quick! I ordered my 530i about two weeks ago and it is still at 1200, according to the BMW genius I 'chatted' with yesterday.

Mine's scheduled to arrive a week after yours.

This morning it was 5055 and I got the VIN - someone must have had a word at the factory

If you look at the last 7 digits of the VIN, out of those, the second one designates the factory it is being built in.
B designates Austria GRAZ and the others are Germany (Dingle whatever the name is I don't recall)
The tracking article the I recall will tell you whihc port the cars go to so keep and eye on the car every day to track where it is and then it's a case for looking for a ship departing there for southampton that ties in with the code saying is on its way. Thats what I did so pretty sure I had the right ship, certianly tied in with the times but I don't know for sure.
Attachment 1686712
all good fun though!
Thank you AP for the info.

Its a WB VIN (last 7 digits starts WB) so B = Austria I believe.

A couple of days. It is surprisingly quick.
Before you know it it will be 8200 - released to carrier, the 9000 released from plant.
then you can track it to the docks and see if yu can find the ship it is on.
Ship takes about 2 days to Southampton.

Then start to expect a call from your dealer....

Damn. I must be one unlucky customer of Arden BMW to have my order stalled at 1100 for the past 3 weeks. ?

Congrats man on getting yours through very quickly.

Thats a shame - any reason been given for the delay? Yours is a 530d right? Perhaps as they sell more of those it might be a shortage of stock issue related to that engine?

I guess that's what it is. Or maybe because they gave me a bigger discount than what they would have liked to ?

I would have thought once the deal is done, they want to get the car out the door ASAP as its still one closer to target either way.

FWIW I got 17% off for a cash purchase. They offered 22% if I took BMW finance but I declined. They are still eager to get the car to me ASAP - the salesman was hoping it would arrive before the end of Sept. to hit some target or other.

You are right. It shouldn't matter once the deal is done. I got exactly the same deal as you. Just couldn't believe the level of discount for a newish model like this. My regular dealer couldn't get anywhere closer to it. According to him, they would lose £4,600 on the car without taking into account retro bonuses for hitting quarterly targets. Why do they do it? BMW must have some stiff targets for G30.

I'm not complaining. Long live CarWow ?

That is WORD FOR WORD what my local Sytner (Tamworth) told me when I asked them to match the deal.

Long live CarWow indeed!

I don't think it's just a G30 thing - some of the smaller dealers struggle with their targets, Sytner don't hence they don't need to do big discounts. If they don't sell X number of cars by the end of the period they have to order the shortfall regardless and they end up being pre-reg's. Pre-reg's sit there till sold, losing money as time passes, so apparently it can be in the dealer's interest to lose money on a definite sale rather than end up with too many pre-reg's sitting around waiting for a buyer that will lose money anyway.

To add, the good thing is this - so long as we know that not every dealer is willing to do that sort of discount, then we know that the car isn't 'devalued' by that level of discount (e.g. Golf R syndrome). If every dealer up and down was doing 20% off without asking for every customer, THEN I would be worried.

Long live CarWow indeed... although I got 'only' 19% - but that's probably more to it being a petrol 530i instead of diesel which currently have a bigger BMW contribution.

My build is now at 5055 also - due for delivery to dealer in w/c 09 Oct...

Dealer contribution was £2,750 on my 540i if I took finance.

On the 530i its only £1,750 and on the 530d its a whopping £4,000!

Which dealer did you go through?

Absolutely. I guess we've got the cars at a price possibly equivalent of about 6 months old. Can't complain when it's that good.

Yep, I wasn't considering new - I was looking at AUC cars, but couldn't find the exact combo of colour/spec I wanted (can you ever with BMWs?) and they were advertised for more than I calculated I would pay for a higher spec new one built exactly as I wanted it.

My car is 8200 - Released to carrier as of today, so I think I have just developed a short term interest in boat spotting!!
