He stated that I need to drive the car every month aggressively for about 50km.

I find it weird how this is a problem for my car as my other cars never really had this issue come up :S
Can you get it in writing and offer it up to the cop who pulls you over?
What a load of BS...

What dealer is this in Canada so people can avoid the service department "advise"?

You mean it won't work? Damn!

We could have a real letter writing program from BMW SAs.

Got car back today. They stated fault in intake control. Thus updated software, and programming and returned car. Of course wiping out my coding I had done 😑. Attached service sheet for reference

Well they said it was active shutters this time, have to order the parts which takes 5 days. So as the guy noted earlier about shutters seems his beer bet might be spot on. I'll keep you posted when it's fixed

I have a 2018 M550i and had this issue a few months ago. After a lot of back and forth including "re-initializing the system", the front grill shutters had to be replaced. Since then, no issues.

OMG. I just picked up my car yesterday morning and the engine light came on AGAIN in the evening after work... This is the 3rd time the engine light came on in 1 month!!!!

Last time they had to replace some valve or something because there was gas in it or something like that (sorry, not very technical with cars here).

Never had any problems with the front grille and then they go and make the cars with "active grille shutters" with mechanical parts all to get an extra 0.8MPG if cruising at exactly 62 MPH. And now there's 2 or 3 people in this thread alone that will have or had to take their basically brand new car in to have them replaced. Great.

BMW should get rid of the shutters. It appears they cause so many problems!!! Was this not thought of during the design??
