Anyone tried bimmercode? having an issue...

I coded the car for the alpina display and now the gauges are all wonky - shifted to the left. restarted car, no difference. There's no customer support number for bimmercode either...

ok, so the gauges are back to normal, still not alpina and not a single thing i coded worked. not sure what i am doing wrong here. I have the newest dash as far as I know unless there are different variants, which is possible I guess. Not sure how to tell. i could understand maybe the Alpina not working but not the home screen logo or the trunk functions. it does say to stop the diagnostic mode and restart, which i assume just means turning off the car (which was not started obviously) and restarting diagnostic mode by pushing the start/stop button 3 times, without foot on brake. didn't work

The developer is very response, but is overseas. He responds to email very well and supports the product better than firms 100 times his size. The product does not "suck" and you obviously are doing something wrong or have the wrong components on cars options or the ODBC connection.

I would carefully try and again and then detail your steps in an email to the developer if unsuccessful. Bashing the product will probably not illicit much help here or elsewhere...

ODB connection is sound, so that isn't the issue. If he's overseas, then I will just wait for his response i guess. Not bashing the product, or not trying to, just frustrated. this should be the simplest thing to do. Thank you for your response.

This is not a product which just turns on a light bulb at dusk or adds a column of numbers. It is a backdoor workaround to change things that were not enabled to do so by the manufacturer, so do not expect it to be a simple check box solution with a staff of help desk workers available 24x7. It can be frustrating and requires patience - following each step carefully and not loosing your cool. Stephan does respond to email and considering what he has to work around to keep up with BMW changes and all the models he supports, he does a damn good job making something complex easier.

I get it. I even restored to the first backup and then recoded, nothing... it all "seems" to code but it doesn't stick. Do I need to remove the OBD module? I wouldn't think so...but maybe? i would think you can just leave that in the car at all times. thanks again.

I remove the module when not coding - no reason to have it in there to be kicked or something. See my PM response.

Didn't work well for a 2018 540xi.

Just asking the obvious, do you have the 6WB full digital instrument cluster? I coded mine without any problems.

yeah, well, no. I had no idea I needed that until I did more digging and emailed the bimmercode guy! That also explained why my dash went nutty after coding it for alpina!

I don't have BimmerCode but still emailed their support people and found them incredible responsive. Wish others were as good.

Stephan is incredible in both his support response and his regular updates to the product. Only wish other companies could match his customer focus and investment in the products enhancements.
