New individual color "Storm Bay Metallic"

I hope this individual color will be available for the G30 LCI (2021?). It is currently available for the X1 LCI 2020 model. I guess the best way to describe this color is grey ceramic.

Your link takes me to the home page of carscoops and don't see it, but could just be because hospital wifi. However, I googled Storm Bay Metallic and it sure looks nice!! I really like that soft gray color. I hope they make it available for the G30.

Here's a few pictures I'll attach:

Similar grays are getting very popular. The cars I'm seeing the most with a color like that are the Kia Stinger, Genesis G70 and several Audi's.

We need more metallic reds, greens, purples, sepia, orange, etc. Not grey - the highways are mostly monochromatic already. Boring.

I guess it's what most people want.
I seem to recall the e39s has quite a few colours during its lifetime but the variety has dies down from the e60 onwards.

True enough, to my eye, grey is even more boring than white which I happen to own. (In my defense, I just could not bear the wait of 3+ months for a car in a lively individual colour, so I settled on Alpine white.)

At least it's a metallic - that kind of colour always reminds me of primer or a base coat.

That's exactly what comes to my mind too!

I am seriously considering going with Almandine Brown Metallic individual, when I order my G30 next year. There are like three of them in the US. I would love to get one in Wild Berry Metallic (or even Oxford Green), but $5K for full individual paint is simply too rich for my blood... I noticed that when people on this forum special order a 5-series, many tend to go with Mediterranean Blue. Because it is the only true unapologetically non-grey regular color left. Imperial and Carbon are just too dark and even Bluestone is a tinted grey really...

Why is it that some individual colours are more expensive than others?

I thought the extra cost was because they took the car off the production line to be painted separately?(by hand not machine?)

What is the actual process , anyone know?

Can you pick a colour from another series that you might like?

What a super boing colour!
Agree that after the E39, the colour pallet choice has been very limited on the 5er's.

not sure if I'm allowed to post a link to a different forum but this link shows how many colours were available for the E39.
No doubt a few of those were individual but even so much more variety.

I don't recall all that many colors for the E39. There does seem to be a greater number of 'shades of grey' in the current BMW standard catalog but here's what I have for the US market MY2000 E39.

Exterior Paint:
Alpine White
Titanium Silver
Aspen Silver
Glacier Green
Jet Black
Siena Red
Biaritz Blue
Oxford Green
Interior Leather:
Beige
Grey
Black
These don't include individual colors that where off the menu at the time (not priority 1 options).

I recall Glacier Green wasn't a very popular color.

Mine was a Ti/Ag with Black Leather.

Believe i saw this colour in a 7er on the weekend...

My personal opinion - looked quite unique at first BUT got very boring, very quickly... Maybe having it on a car as big as the 7er didn't help its sporty appeal as well.

Each to their own, I guess....

I love that look. To give it more of a sporty look, you could add gloss black to the trim pieces and that would make it look even better.
