Sunroof closing issue
Hello,
I have a 2019 540i Touring with only 4000 km on it, and there is an issue with the sunroof that I have never seen before on my last 3 BMWs with panorama roof: at first occasionally, but recently more frequently, the sunroof will fail to close when it bumps into the wind protector on the front (which should fold down). The workaround is to hold the wind protector down with your hand until the roof is over it and then quickly retract your hand before the fingers get crushed -- not very elegant. I do not see any dirt causing this, and I need to apply significant pressure to have the wind protector fold down. Anyone had this? Is there an easy fix? For info: I am coming up to the short-term lease end and having it looked on as a warranty issue will be more of a PITA than doing this unsightly maneuver a couple more months, anyways it would be interesting to hear if someone else had the same issue. |

I had this with my 540i Touring.
Had to do a Sunroof reset. If you can close the sunroof fully, once the sunroof is fully closed..... press and keep pressing/hold the sunroof button in until the sunroof goes through it's reset where the sunroof fully opens and closes. Once it has done a complete cycle it should work correctly. There are many videos on Youtube...here's one of them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGJdl9MutN0

It was the wind deflector that was stopping mine from closing. The spring loading on the deflector is very strong. If you can't resolve it yourself try your main dealer.
