Love it....it out of the box so to speak, the design team took a chance with the styling.....As far as competing with the M, if Lexus put as much focus on the handling/driving experience in the RC F as they did the standard IS (which in many reviews has won out segment comparo's in the handling dept., besting ATS 3.6 and the F30 335i) thay will have a winner.

This is meant to be a competitor to the M3/C63, and historically it's always been priced at $5k-$10k less than the M3/C63 (when comparably optioned out).

Why would the price suddenly jump to $100k?

I am not a fan of the new M4 design and this RC-F looks even more awful. I just can't get over that giant grill. It needs a bar in the middle a la the current GS. I don't like where Lexus is headed with styling. Although they did a good job keeping the V8. Pricing will make or break this car. If it is anywhere near $100k, they will sit and rot on dealer lots. Needing giant end-of-year incentives to move them.

I think the next gen C63 coupe is going to be the ticket. I still want my V8, but with turbo tuning capability.

dat interior and rear three-quarters gives me such a hard on.

i'll reserve judgement on driving characteristics but so far well done by Lexus in terms of design.

Yeah the ISF is the sedan version. The RC in RCF stands for "race coupe" and is the coupe version. They just call them different names.

I had replied with the same answer as well but upon further reading, some in the press have claimed that the IS-F is dead after the current gen and that the RC-F would replace it as the performance model. I find that scenario unlikely and think we will have an IS-F of the 3rd gen IS but I do find it odd that the RC-F is being introduced in tandem with the RC while there is complete silence on the IS-F front.

Whoever took/edited those pictures did a terrible job. What's up with all the cords/lights/people in the reflections in the pictures?

I love the car from about the middle of the front wheels back. That front end is hideous. And I agree if it's anywhere near $100k they'll be sitting for a while.

It will be priced to compete with M4/C63......

The 100k Lexus everyone is confusing with the RC is the LF-LC, its supposed to be a 500hp hybrid that will probably go toe to toe with the new NSX..

Wasn't the LF-CC the concept for the RC?

Edit: According to the Lexus invite to the reveal, LF-CC = RC concept:

He's confusing the LFCC with the LF-LC.

The LF-CC concept = RCF

The LF-LC is going to be a "mini-LFA" type car in the $100k-$150k range.

This is the LF-LC (concept) -

I like the the exterior more than the interior and that that is weird for a Lexus from past experience. Pretty sure it's a nice car. Does it have dual-cltch tranny? No matter how great they state their auto-transimission is, I can't agree especially for a sports car like this.

Also apparently it's going to put out 480 HP (via motortrend) -

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...#ixzz2prLKtozH

The ideal Atkinson cycle captures and compresses an amount of air that, when combusted and expanded throughout the entire power cycle, results in a cylinder pressure that's near atmospheric at the bottom of the piston's stroke, meaning the engine has wrung every bit of energy out of the fuel. Drop the hammer, and those valves shut in time to give you the full 12.3:1 compression (up from 11.8:1) and 5.0 liters of furious power -- 480 horses' worth (up substantially from the IS F's 416). A newly modified version of the current D4S direct-injection with secondary port injection helps make all this work. Torque ratings and further specifications are pending.

According to the motortrend article lexus says they'll price it based on the M4, so it'll likely be the M4 price minus $5K or so as per usual.

Are u all looking at the same mish-mosh of lines & disgusting grill to go with a dated/crap interior? Lexus design team should be led out back and shot.

Well, at least you followed through with your set up of quotes there. You would clearly damn this thing straight to hell, where others, such as myself, love it. Textbook polarizing discussion. Oh how I miss the days not too long ago when BMWs were at the heart of discussion like this.

What do we have to look forward to now when a new BMW model is released? "Yeah, it looks good." "Eh, nothing to dislike, but it looks like every other one." "That frivolous trivial detail around the [grille, fender, headlights, etc.] puts me off; I'd change it this way and then it'd be perfect" - and that's about the extent of any discussion these days. As someone that loves to talk about car design non-stop, I welcome any polar design that features something new, something clever, or something that makes you go "this shouldn't work, but it does. And here's why I see that".

What you see as a "mish-mosh of lines", I see as a series of well calculated scallops, creases and edges; all implying power and emphasizing width and street presence. It's possible to call it over-styled, maybe. I think that it looks upscale and brilliant when you start to piece it together. Pieces relate, corners are positioned to compliment each other, and lines add or subtract depth in the right spots to give it a purposeful visual strength. And the "disgusting grill"? I think it's brash and daring, yet well shaped and sculpted all the way down to the minute shaping of its surrounding trim and interlacing mesh. They could have messed this one up easily, but I think they pulled it off immensely well. This will provide the RC-F an unrivaled level of DRG presence on the road. The interior? Based on overall layout and design from a few photos, it's hard to tell. It's certainly better than the outgoing IS-F's without a doubt, but that would be necessary for it to be competitive nowadays. If the materials are anything like what the latest Lexus products have been using then I think we're in for a surprise treat.

I can't wait to find out for myself. And I'm really excited for the inevitable shootout with the new round of sports coupe contenders. There's no denying that this will give the M4 a run for its money. I'm really curious as to what MB will do with that secret weapon of a C-Class they've got brewing. We hardly have any information about the AMG monster, but I hope they keep the insanity on par with the course.
