V-Band can't clamp properly on aftermarket downpipe
Hi guys, I have a B48 G30 520i 2019 version without OPF, and I bought a DCE downpipe from PSR parts. They checked my VIN and made sure that the downpipe would fit my vehicle.
When I brought the part to my workshop, my mechanic said the pipe wasn't sitting properly. What happened was that the flange at the turbo end was 8mm thick, while the stock cat was 7mm. This extra 1mm caused the v-band clamp to sit unevenly, about 70% on the downpipe and 30% on the turbo end, instead of 50/50 on the stock cat. I'm wondering if anyone else has faced such an issue before? Or if this isn't actually an issue since there's also a gasket in between the turbo and the downpipe? I have attached some images of the measurement for reference. Here's the stock cat: and here's the DCE cat |

I would have to see what it looks like with the vband installed.

Thanks for the response! Unfortunately I don't have a photo. My mechanic says that the V-band can't fit across the turbo side at all due to the excess 1mm. It's like the flange on the downpipe eats too much space in the clamp.
