Any info on Converting a G30 530e to F90 M5?

Hi guys, just wanted to ask if this kind of a project is doable or not? I have a 2017 530e and was just wondering if i can convert it fully to a 2019 M5. By fully i mean stripping out everything from the 530e and getting all the M5 stuff in. The reason im asking is because buying a m5 directly from the dealer is not an option that i can go for at the moment. Thank you

With enough money anything is possible. However, while the M5 is based on the standard 5 series, I believe ~60% of the parts are different. You would be able to by an M5 twice over by the time you get everything to work. Engine, suspension, brakes, steering racks, body panels, interior, etc. The juice here is NOT worth the squeeze. Find a different dealer, wait it out, or buy used.

I think he's talking just the interior and maybe some body panels.

But, like you said, it ain't going to be cheap; unless he can find the parts used or from a wreckers. Even them it will still cost $$$$$$$$$

I know the front door cards are $4 grand a piece. While I love the M5 interior - I don't love it that much over a stand 5er. Not to mention, I've got a 530i as a loaner right now and I think the seats are more comfortable.

Im talking about the full switch...engine and everything....reason for that you ask? import duties here are 400% so a car thats 100K in US will cost me over 400K here after shipping and all. But technically if i use the chasis of g30...the switch should on paper be possible right?

There was a thread not too long ago, it was either here or the M5 forum, it was exactly what you want to do. Had lots of people scratching their heads because it sure looked the part.

Sadly, I can't find the thread for you, and I did look.

I think the more interesting conversion would be just to do suspension and drivetrain. Stealth bomber.

It's the same chassis so it's doable.

Yes exactly, i have a f10 m5 that was swapped on a normal 520...so atleast its tried and tested on the f10 chasis. This is gonna be the first attempt on the f90.

The one in blue is 530e whos chasis is going to be used for all the m5 stuff. The grey one is the already swapped f10 and black is the m5 i bought from UK
