BMW is no different then any other corporation. Their only objective is to maximize shareholder wealth.

Whatever they have to do to keep these cars at or around the current prices are fine by me.

Yes, he should explain a statement like that; not for me, but for everyone else's enlightenment. I thought it would be interesting to see why he would post something like that.

That's f****** sad... But as i've always stated, BMW doesn't care about you, or their workers, they care about the bottom line and that's it. As long as we (the customers) continue to buy their product (which we by the way love), they will continue to cut corners, reduce the pay of (or fire) employee's and produce a product which fills their pockets. As the article stated, in Germany this wouldn't be tolerated, but this isn't Germany. This is america, where anything goes and Corporations run the country, not the government.

I have a feeling this post will either be: A. Edited, B. Deleted, C. I'll be banned and/or D. All of the above

typical corporate strategy, yes, tragic on some, but benefit on the others, bottom line? a few extra $ for the share holders. GM does that, Walmart do that, mom and pop shop do that too, it has nothing to do with whether other nations care about us or not. everyone want more profit, simple. if we are not competitive then jobs go else where.

I find the 3.6 billion in bailouts the most disturbing part of this somehow...so I looked into it and found this little article
http://jalopnik.com/5704575/ford-bmw...vernment-money

Not sure how much I trust it, but it sounds like it was the financial arm of BMW that was "bailed out". The financial arm of the company acts like a bank, making loans for people to buy cars, and would obviously be heavily hit is tons of people started defaulting on their car loans, but does that mean we should give them US taxpayer money, when they aren't even a US company?

But maybe the company that was bailed out was actually BMW Bank of North America, the same company that runs http://www.up2drive.com/ car loans...Is that an American bank?

I don't know, but I am just an uneducated citizen, maybe it was the right move to bail them out after all. And maybe the BMW that was bailed out and the BMW that is making these cuts are actually quite separate both in terms of finance and policy.

Oh wait, it's already happened with Wall Street bankers, the housing and mortgage industry, the Detroit auto makers and 30 million unemployed people in the U.S.

Many financial greed mongers would ship every single U.S. job they could to a third world country if they could get $.25 more in their annual bonus...
ASK NOT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY BUT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU! - Indeed. Patriotism is dead, and all the flag waving "patriots" we see daily are all bought and paid for by same corporations. If folks traveled a little more that song about land of the free would really sound hollow to them when they realize what has happened to them. Slowly the corporations have been sapping all the freedom the people imagine they have. In the end everything you do is innocuously coerced by corporations to build them more profits.

I don't really get all of you who are complaining about this. BMW is a business, of course they are looking for ways how to maximize their profit. On one side US is always trying to look like the best example of freedom (and ofc spread the freedom to everyone .. hint: Irak) on the other you wanna force a company to employee people whose contracts just ran out....

I'll say it again; BMW is no different then Ford, GM, Toyota or any other corporation. Look at what Cisco announced today:

http://www.boston.com/business/techn..._cuts_to_6500/

Over 6000 jobs lost. Guess what; their shares rose this morning after the announcement:

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/cis...MW_latest_news

This has nothing to do with patriotism or what is fair, it's capitalism. Stop complaining about it and become a shareholder.
