CG DS-1

Anyone have sound clips of a 540i with stock exhaust and high-flow catted downpipe? I have a CG DS-1 on order and am very excited to get it installed and get more sound out of my 540i. For those who have just a DP installed, is the sound increase substantial? I feel like I can barely hear my exhaust on stage 1 BM3.

It was milder than I expected. Sounds better now with a performance muffler.

Sounds mean! Which performance muffler did you end up going with? I may look into that if the dp doesnt provide enough sound

Thanks! I went with MPE after trying to find a remus set up and dinan muffler for 5 months lol., just couldn't wait any longer

It's a substantial increase in the mid-range, much deeper tone.
Also a noticeable sound on high RPM and cold start.

Regular driving with valves closed is very similar to stock

BTW, my CEL started to come up every day now.. maybe because of the rising temperatures? I did use a co2 adapter from ebay, it only helped for the first 500 miles, then I would get CEL every few hundred miles, now it comes back right away. It sucks, because I can't use a remote start now

Dang that sucks to hear man. One of the reasons I chose CG was because of the almost no CEL, but Im gonna run BM3 stage 2 anyway so it should clear the code. I would suggest that for you but I see you have the LCI version... I wouldn't trade that for anything though because the LCI is absolutely gorgeous!

Tbh I don't remember why I went with the ER high flow cat at a similar price of the CG :

If you are looking for a downpipe with a no check engine light guarantee, you should get the active autowerke.

ER is one of the best-built downpipes, hand-crafted in the US. The quality of the pipe is second to none. But Unforutnately, they use regular cats that throw a check engine light.

They are not CEL free unfortunately. I even tried an o2 spacer, but it didn't help
