PS4 internet settings.

over the weekend I traded xbox1 and 360 with few games and purchased PS4.
I downloaded the network applications to be able to play online but it took forever, 26hrs-36hrs. So i went on youtube and did a search.

I changed the DNS settings.

is there any other settings i should change?

im thinking of upgrading my router soon.

i did notice 3 bars to 2 bars while playing, i experience some lagging.

i bought modern warfare 2 in 1 game, currently downloading the add-on remaster taking forever!

i have black ops 3

I was in the same boat you are and just ended up plugging my Ethernet cable to it. You get faster downloads and less chance of lag that piss you off while playing FPS games.

Thats where the problem may lie.
Know what frequency your wifi is putting out?
Sadly, Sony did NOT equip the PS4 with a 5.0 frequency reciever. (I think thats the higher/"better" frequency used today, frequency recievers for 5 are all in our cell phones and such.) So the PS4 only runs on frequency 2.4. Hardwired is the best to do (which is how I run) or you can use 2.4 and modify that setting in your router itself to split frequencies 2.4 and 5 into two different SSIDs and connect to 2.4. Hardwired, (obviously) will always be faster anyways. So if possible, go that route!

Slim and Pro support 802.11ac (so 5GHz compatible).

I have found that to download faster then put it in sleep mode or rest mode, whatever they call it. If you try and play a game while downloading then it takes forever
