New head unit required?
have a 2017 G31 to which I added Carplay via USB from a 3rd party.
Following the EGR valve recall the dealer reprogrammed the car and the Sat Nav no longer works - states "loading". 2 days back at the dealer and following BMW reviewing the code they advise that the car needs a new head unit at a cost of £1500. They refuse any warranty claim since there is 3rd party code present which was not purchased from BMW. Can the head unit not be flashed and code reinstalled or would carplay really break it beyond repair? Anyone with similar experiences or suggestions of how to avoid having to pay for a new head unit? |

Seems a common theme at the moment. Had a full istep upgrade done on my 2017 G30 with no 3rd party code but done through a BMW specialist and got the same. They had to refer it to the BMW dealer who had to request some code direct from BMW to get it sorted. Sounds like another money grabbing scam to me from BMW.
