I'm coming from an M3, so I'd imagine there will be a period of adjustment for me. I always wanted an M3. Definitely the best car I ever had, but I feel like I got that out of my system now.

I always wanted a 5 series sedan too. I want my new car to be more luxurious oriented. However, I decided to go with M Sport Design and M Sport Brakes to ease the transition from the M3.

I kept to my budget. I decided to sacrifice Xdrive in order to get M Sport. If I could survive PA winters with an M3, I'm pretty sure I can manage without xDrive. Plus, I can always use my wife's SUV if the weather is really bad anyway.

I went with Black Sapphire. When I started my career back in the mid 80s, I really wanted a black BMW (3 or 5 series). I couldn't afford one back then of course. Ironically, this will be my 5th BMW and never had a black one before. So that's the story behind my choice of colors.

MSRP=$72,320 (includes destination & handling)

Got 8% off of MSRP plus $2k loyalty rebate.

Car should arrive in mid March.

Funny because my story is the exact opposite. I ordered the Mediterranean blue because I realized that all my cars have been black or silver. The only car that wasn't was my new 1980 320i as it was crimson red. Boy that paint faded into orange but I loved it.

Congrats man, that thing should be really sweet. Mid-March seems so far away, but I'm sure it'll go by fast if you try to forget about your order.. HAHA what am I thinking? No chance

you'll be amazed how fast it's done in production, in my experience it's usually just get stuck in port...

Yeah. Mine has been in port 9 weeks and counting.

Yeah, this will be my 5th BMW. Once it hits production, it usually takes about 6 weeks for me to get my car, maybe 7 if North Atlantic weather isn't cooperating. Plus, it's a quick drive from the ports to my dealer. Being on the east coast of US is a big advantage.

As of yesterday, mine is now at the port too. So it's been there about 24 hours. Seems like a good possibility we'll be on the same ship. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Looking at Wallenius schedule - shows three vehicle ships scheduled to sail to Baltimore

Two ships leave Feb 19 arriving March 4 & 7 respectively
One ship scheduled to leave Feb 28 arriving March 8

No idea if we're on this group. Looks like mapping VINs to ship manifests requires a bit more legwork these days.

I'm in sort of a similar situation...have about a year remaining on my '17 M3 lease...basically my dream car. Going to be difficult to decide what to do next. I sort of want to go more of a luxury route. It would be pimp to drive a nice comfy 540i that still has plenty of speed, but with a quieter and more comfortable ride than my M3. But part of me just wants to buy the M when the lease is up. It's so much more eye catching and sportier than a 5. Ugh, going to be such a tough decision

I just went though this (sort of). Had 4 months left on my 16 M3. LOVED the car, but wanted more luxury. I've had my 19 M550 for 2 weeks and I LOVE it too. Very different cars.

The M3 was extremely fun to drive and was definitely an eye catching beast, but sitting in the M550 you really feel the luxuriousness of the car. Something that I now look back on the M3 and realize how far apart they are in terms of comfort and finish. The M550 is so damn fast too; you don't even realize it since it doesn't have that M3 "feel."

They really both are great cars. I had a blast with my M3, but I knew I wanted something more luxurious but was still an animal. I don't think they can be compared. It's going to be a trade off depending on whichever one you go with. I don't think you can make a wrong decision!

Thanks for the tip - I would have assumed we were on the same but I was told by my CA that my car is on the Wisdom Ace. Doesn't appear to be part of the WW fleet.
