I went to the dealer to buy my wife a 2 series convertible. While in there they gave me a deal I couldn't say no to...to take my 20 month old M2 (see below) of me for the G31. The G31 530d is a quick practical car BUT it's not an M2 ..... I'm still not sure I made the right decision, I need to drive it more.
There were some strong deals on the G30/31 just before lockdown due to the impending LCI, sounds like we both benefitted.

I'm moving from a 430d. I wanted a last hurrah with a great petrol engine before an eventual move into electric. But our two boys are also growing up fast, as is our newly-acquired German Shepherd, so we also needed something bigger.

Your M2 was a lovely thing. A G31 is about as different to an M2 as it's possible to get though! There must have been some logic? Hopefully it make sense for your circumstances. It's such a great all-rounder

You'll love the 540i, great engine, the same was in my M140i.
I keep telling myself.....great practical car, smooth, quiet, I wanted the straight six diesel, ½ the fuel bill compared to my M2, makes sense.
I had £5.5k negative equity on the M2, which the dealer took over (it's on their forecourt for 5.5K less than they gave me!!), and gave me another £12.5k discount on the 530d which was still in build (not stock), so couldn't really say no at the time.
I feel more nervous about getting a speeding fine in the 530d than the M2 because you don't get the sense of speed in the 530d because the way it delivers.

Ouch, I went the other way. 5er --> M2C. I cant imagine driving a 5er daily ever again, or any big car for that matter. I have the F10 still and it'll only go out if needed, and thats a big IF. The M2 on the other hand is never getting sold, ever

I know I used my M2 daily, 23,000 miles in 20 months..... I mis that car. The only plus is ½ the fuel bill. But the smiles per mile is so much higher in the M2.
