Damn...one of my main reasons for waiting for a 2021 is/was for remote start. If they don't have it I may jump on a 2020....guess I'll wait for the reveal then decide. Really wanted remote start - comes in very handy in cold climates...

LCI will most likely have it, as did the 7 series LCI, since the car will have the updated modules.

No I don't think its fake. Would be nice if someone on the forum has used these guys, or knows costing, etc. Looks like they are in Canada as well. Odd with so many folks wanting RS that no one has much feedback on these guys.

Than said - if its not out on the 2021 I will certainly do some more research and appreciate the link!

I actually called them but did not mention a whole lot. They wanted me to being the car in which I obviously can't. I'm was going to pull the trigger on a Eurostart but it doesn't have full takeover. Waiting to see if something can come out of this.

Exactly why I never went with the system. I had explored it on my G01 but wanted something with the takeover option.

Which is what is shown on the video. But no one seems to know how they do it.

No one has a clear idea why BMW updated the 5 series to iDrive 7 in MY2020 and didn't hold it out until the LCI. BMW has other MY2020 cars that are still shipping with iDrive 6 so they could have done the same here. Especially since iDrive 7 "Lite" creates a weird splinter for iDrive 7 that will add complexity for them.

What I mean is iDrive 7 is built around the idea of RSU to keep the software improving overtime. Features such as personal assistance will need more frequent updates than classic voice commands. iDrive 7 "Lite" creates a situation where they can't cleanly keep the platform in line. But that splinter only exists on the MY2020 5 series.

People say BMW is run by bean counters so the decision makes very little sense

But we're literally 4 days from the unveiling of MY2021 and unless you're buying a lot car you're very unlikely to be able to order a MY2020 5 series anyway. I'd just wait and see what's concrete for MY2021. For all we know MY2021 will be iDrive 7 "Lite" too...
BMW splintered the 2020 X3 with iDrive 7 “Lite” also. It’s lacking remote start, RSU, and climate control with voice. But the X3 may not have an LCI until 2022 MY.

Be interesting to see if it is made available on U.K. cars. it is illegal here to have a car with its engine running ‘unattended’. The 530e complies as the engine doesn’t run, the hybrid battery provided the heat or cooling.
