Moved from 4 to 5! (428i CG - M550i)
Hey all,
Well day of mixed emotions, traded in my beloved 428i Gran Coupe for a dream car - M550i. I was hitting 60-70k in the F36 and about to be out of warranty, by chance a local dealer just happened to have a stunning CPO'd 550i. Telling you right now, dealers are willing to negotiate! Amazing trade and great selling price made it impossible to pass. after 24hrs i still can't believe its sitting in my garage, the M550 is an absolutely outstanding car. Mediterranean Blue over cognac, 8k miles, 20" 759i with Pirelli PZero mounted, driver assist, parking assist, heads up display, cold weather, apple car play & wireless charger, Bowers and Wilkins,............ Old: 428i GC New: M550i With it's sister, 04 325ci (Black over Tan, 5 spd!) Cheers, happy to be part of the G30 forum now! Last edited by Bloke; 05-19-2020 at 01:39 PM.. |

Lawguy: Initial impressions are simply fantastic, still comprehending the difference from the F32 to the M550. But lets try to summarize;
Physical Size - Exactly what i wanted, so much more room, feels more comfortable, but still not overwhelmingly large. Power - insane! Not even comparable, almost double to HP & Torque. 1st 8cyldr car i've ever owned, loving the low end torque, will probably get use to more frequent stops at the gas station. Simply it make me grin every time i fire it up! Technology - far superior to the '16 systems, i drive, driver assistance - lane departure, auto braking, adaptive cruise, head-ups display, auto dimming high beams, & on & on... the conveniences and comfort of the tech are so welcomed. Entertainment - the Bowers & Wilkins system is stunning, sound quality amazing, apple car play great (didn't have that in the '16), wireless charging. Comfort - seats are great, more supportive, adjustability, sounds trivia, but love the color, better than black & nicer than the "typical" light tan. Overall, i literally couldn't be happier, i'm certainly a BMW brand loyalist, (318, 320, 325ci, 428) and this is, so far is the pinnacle of what I've experienced. GT Fish & Mike, yes deals to be had! Original sticker on the car (It's a 2019) was $89k new... they left the selling sheet in the glove-box. They has it adverted as a CPO'd 8,600 mile car for $64,900, I got it for $58,500 with $20k trade for my 2016 428i x-drive M-Sport with 60k miles. I feel i got an amazing deal. I honestly was expecting a bit more with the current environment, but the pricing is "competitive" judging by Edmunds / KBB. |

OP: Drop dead gorgeous M550i you got there!. Definitely this is the best time to get a new set of wheels.
And I have to say your E46 Convertible looks to be absolutely pristine. What year is it? Looks to be 2004-2005.

Enjoy. With the current pandemic it seems the only feasible travel in the near future will be car road trips!
