2020 M550 At Dealer For 1st Year Service

So, my 2020 M550 is at the dealer for the following:

1. Annual service
2. Coolant leak/smell
3. Software update I-Drive 7 lite
4. Install missing valet switch in glovebox
5. Malfunctioning collision detection

I will post results when I get the car back on Friday or Monday

I am interested in the missing valet switch and how that turns out.

1. Annual service was performed. The completed work order indicated oil was changed and 0W-20 was added. What? I called the dealer and he said it was a clerical error that 0W-30 was added. He offered to service the oil again. I told him if he was 100% certain the correct oil was added, I am fine.

2. The cooling system was pressure tested and no leaks found. I can still smell coolant. I will keep an eye on the coolant level.

3. Software updated to S15A-20-11-542. Dealer has to get approval from BMW. It’s nice to have google maps in the HUD.

4. Trunk valet switch installed.

5. No problem found in collision avoidance system. Maybe software update will address.

The dealer had to order parts for this job. Everything seems fine, checked for mechanic damage, so far so good. I think this is worth installing. Here is a couple of photos.

Did they mention on invoice them updating the software?

Great. Thanks for sharing! Makes me feel more comfortable getting that switch added.

Notice anything new in the November update?

Nice, mine was in today, I didn't get update, last update was May of last year. Just looked thru my paperwork. Thanks for posting!

To be honest, I haven’t had a chance to pursue through the changes yet. One thing I did notice on my way home was that Google maps display in the HUD.

Is this software update different (or in addition to) the July 2020 software update? If yes, what does it add?

TBH, I am not sure. I got the update mainly for the Android support, CarPlay display in the HUD, and enhanced navigation maps.

As far as what other benefits, maybe someone here will chime-in.

It is in addition to the July Update. But mostly bug fixes I think.

I don't know what it adds though as I haven't yet received this update. Since the dealer is cagey on updates I am waiting on the next bigger update before getting updated.

One other feature I think it has is Alexa integration, but I haven’t tried that feature yet.

That would be new! Alexa integration is not there in my July Update build.

Anything show up on how it works or a picture of it? Might be helpful for the Alexa users amongst us. I wonder if it allows Alexa to replace or work alongside the BMW Personal Assistant. Not useful for me, but may be very useful for many.
