Gesture control??
Okay, if you don't have obsessive/compulsive disorder, stop reading this
I can't get my gesture control to work right. Can't turn the 3D car around, can't mute with two fingers...etc. I can adjust volume, but that's about it. And yes, I've tried standing on my head with my left eye closed. Any therapists out there to help me with my OCD? |

For me, learning where the car wanted my hand (directly in front of the screen below the rear view mirror where the sensor is) made a bit of a difference. It still only works about 80-90% of the time, but that’s better than it was when I first got the car.
It is a bit of a gimmick but I have found myself using it - especially the mute feature. Edit - I still can’t seem to rotate the camera with it though, I have to use the idrive bezel for that. |

Mine works 100% of the time (I didnīt spec the car, I wouldnīt have paid for it), and while itīs a fun gimmick I donīt find it that usefull.

it's something that takes getting used to - the jab 2 fingers forward to mute is something that is hit and miss for me.
but the twirl finger to increase/decrease volume works like a charm |

I only use it for answering/dismissing phone calls. And that, also, is hit and miss. I also didn't spec my car, and never would have paid for this gimmick.

rebooting the system by holding down the volume button made it incredibly responsive for me - if that helps.
i have to say, it is a nice feature to have - i honestly thought it was gimmicky, but i'm surprised at how quickly i've started relying on it (but then again, i'm lazy) |

BTW you're probably doing it wrong. It's not 2 fingers forward Make your hand fist, then open 2 fingers (index and middle) at the same time (fingers separated and open to either side). It works 99% of time and I do it mostly on my hand on the gear knob. On screen level it work 100%

This is why I think the idea is flawed. It's not intuitive. The button the steering wheel with one prod achieves the same result so why use gesture??
Just my opinion but this is very much technology for technology sake. How this can be viewed as better is beyond me. Surely we should make changes when it better and I just don't think it is. Is it clever , yes and I'm sure there are probably better uses for this type of technology but just not in a car. This is very much a gimmick and nothing more. Now of course if you like it , fair enough I'm not going to argue but this is just my opinion. |

PS. Forget about it. Volume UP/DOWN works halve the time but that is just about it.

It's very much a marmite feature. You either love it or hate it.
Personally, I love it. Simply lifting two fingers to skip a track is brilliant and easier than fumbling through the steering controls and much safer than reaching out to the console skip track button or carplay touch screen. Volume control also works great for me, but you just need to remember to doing it relatively slowly and over a wider circle. The nice thing about this is you can do it without taking your eyes off the road, so I feel it's much safer. My only wish is if it had more customisation options.....
