I think it will be a min of 1k. If you look at M4 pricing 2015 base MSRP was $64,200 and 2016 is now $65,700. That's $1,500 year over year. I think that is probably where the M2 will fall. Knowing this is what pushed me toward getting a HEA car as waiting for ED (if it ever happened) wouldn't have resulted in any real cost savings. That said I would have done ED just for the experience but didn't want to wait until next year (not going to Munich in November for ED).

For 2016 the M3/4 received more standard equipment like the upgraded audio. It use to be a $900 option. So the price increase was not that much but it did have another price increase half way through the year like BMW always does. M2 price will go up with no equipment changes. The big hit is the loss of the better maintenance plan. That is worth more than what the price increase will be.

I am with you, but don't worry. I am sure you will find an agreement with your dealer.

Have you driven a 4 series vs. a M235i?

I originally was considering a 5 series, 4 series and thought the 2 series too small. I got to the dealer test drove the 4. It was uninspiring, too long and I just really didn't like the handling. They had a M235i w/track package. Wanting to remove it from consideration, I ask them to test drive it. I drove the stink out that car and couldn't stop smiling. That's when they told me that BMW was releasing a M2 and here I am

Charging me more and giving me an option, I would not normally buy is not a deal. I hate the BMW HK stereo, unless it is much improved but in my E36M3 it had this low level bass that I could not adjust out that tired my ears after a while. I don't think they had ASD back then. But in MY16 they did include more than the HK for the M3/M4 so yes the price increase was almost a wash, except like I said I would want to remove the HK.

I think they will repackage everything and putting it back to MY16 specs will be more.

If you don't change your own brakes then yes, significant. If you change your own brakes then we are only really talking about a loss of $300 or so.

The price will be the price and we will either pay it or walk. There won't be any hey but I thought I was getting a MY16, but, but...

Never driven a BMW as the California dealers I've visited were reluctant to put miles on the M4 via test drives. I'm still a few months from buying but will test drive the 2 & 4 series soon. I had a Rousch 427 which time wise (0-60 and quarter mile) was comparable to the M2, although a tank to drive.

My dealer told me that they will charge $500.00 for an extra year of maintenance. That's not too bad.

I don't know. People are complaining about the shortened maintenance plan and thinking it's worth a lot. Just letting them know what my dealer told me. I already have a 2016 so I don't need it right now.

But it's not simply shortened. They have removed things that it will cover, such as brakes. What does that $500 gain anyone?

Depends on what service would fall on that 4th year. Oil change, diff change together would cost more than 500.00. I'm not sure what else it will cover. Either way, just passing on what I was told.

Maybe if you pay insane dealer prices. You can do a oil and diff fluid change yourself for 100 bucks. The big loser is no more brake coverage especially if you track the car and want free rotors.

The brakes are the only thing that is a bummer. Frankly I prefer to change my own oil and do my own brake work but the cost of those m brake rotors is a pretty big chunk. Not sure I will put enough miles and stress on the brakes to hit the threshold that BMW would have had but it would be nice to have that coverage.

OK. Just heard from my SA that I am definitely a MY2017 (in the system) now, and BMW will NOT honour MY2016 pricing for MY2017 deliveries (despite the signed order being a MY2016). We are going to have a serious talk once they find out what that actually means in terms of $, coverage and options... and it will not be a happy talk.

He doesn't know what the increase will be yet (likely BMW AG has not set it, or at least not told dealers), but I would guess a minimum of CPI increase (~$1K)... as well as whatever changes in coverage come with MY2017. I will keep you posted when I hear something more firm - though others on here will likely hear before I do.

Rear camera is already standard, at least in Canada. Or did you mean front camera?

Ridiculous, and as many had feared would happen. Any idea when the dealers will get the updated pricing?

Rear isn't standard (part of exec) and there's no front option. Supposedly something due to the bumper design.

Ahhh...ok. I think the rear camera is standard in Canada since its part of the Exec Pkg which is on the base CDN car then?

Can't be the rear bumper design, as it is standard in Canada as ex-Mini has said. I suppose you meant the front bumper... why would you need one, aren't you looking in that direction anyway?
