550 Drivers Seat Issue

I have a 2021 550 and I am experiencing a loud coil or popping sound when I get out of the driver's seat. It is coming from the bottom left side. Has anyone experienced this and were you able to resolve it? The dealership seems to be stumped by it.

Do you have any actual issues with the seat or it is just the sound ? Does the sound pop from time to time especially when you close the door ?

If that is the case, mine does that too and I don't think it is a problem, it is supposed to do that, but for what reason, I don't know.

If you are a big guy, it could be the side bolster dipping against the plastic seat trim and when it is released, the plastic trim pops.

The one time popping spring like sound is from the left seat bolster and makes it when I swing my body to the side and get out of the car. It is not from the door. I have tried putting some foam by the plastic seat trim, but did not help. The dealer wants to take the seat out and I am not too thrilled with this approach as they seem to make things worse and it only makes the popping spring like sound each time when I get out of the car.

Sounds like you are going to live with it then. I would personally let the dealer take care of it. It's not a big deal to remove a seat.

One possibility is that your seat frame broke:

This was a problem with earlier cars, so it may not be the problem, as I would have thought they had fixed it by now.

I would not live with it but make it an issue for my next maintenance visit.
