The lines look a bit E39-ish to me... does anyone agree?

Hood line is promising, but I fear the headlights will still run into the kidney grill.

The LCI is not even in production and we have the MY2017 going around, wow.

Btw is has a lot of similarities with the f11, this is so far from production that in my opinion they are using f11 body partsmixed with something new, like the hood.

Hopefully it will lose some weight.

Ooh yes I remember reading something in an interview in one of the magazines saying the next 5 will have x drive RHD compatibility and the M550d will then be coming to the UK

...by which time the power will be up and hopefully handling more refined. Lets hope they keep the hydraulic steering.

Oh.... please no, don't ruin the beautiful 5er with that.

The hideous pop-up-looking dash screen and grille-connected-to-headlights may be enough to deal-breaker this baby.

I wonder if Scott can tell us whether the lights are likely to reach the grill?

This looks like a very early test mule based on the current chassis.
But then again, introduction in 2015 with first models arriving in 2016 (MY2017 for you americans) would mean first pictures starting to roll in now.

What I would like to see apart from upgraded tech and design is a BIGGER 5-series. I had an E61 and now have a F11 and it seems to have shrunk. Right now it's smaller than both an Audi and a Mercedes of comparable class.
Mercedes E-class size would be good.

And can we please get a plug-in hybrid touring version.

What? The F10 is the biggest car in its class. It's almost 7 Series size. I do love the size as it works with the F10's elegant lines to give it a characteristic presence and persona, but I think the last thing the next 5 needs to be is any bigger. The F10 is as big as it should get.

What's crazy is the seeming fact that BMW has quietly indeed moved to 6 year production cycles instead of the 7 years that Premium manufacturers (including BMW pre-F30) do.

No it's not. The Audi A6 is longer but not by much. And ok, I admit that the mercedes E-class is shorter. By 1 mm (0.04 inches)...
I'm talking touring versions here.
But both are bigger than the F11 inside. Especially the trunk which is why you get a touring in the first place...

5 series needs about 3 more inches knee room in the back seat. My 2009 Camry had better second row ergo's despite the "on paper" specs being equal. ALso, the rear doors are not cut to allow good access relative to the seat back. Fortunately, this is not my 4 passenger ride. You family guys that employ the 5 for transportation, hats off to ya.

I think the 5 series is fine as a family vehicle for younger children. I wouldn't try to fit adult aged children in the backseat.
