New Rolls-Royce Phantom Teased Before July 27 Reveal

Quote:
Rolls-Royce has confirmed that the new Phantom will debut on July 27 and has released two teaser images of the car.

The two pictures suggest that the design of the 2018 Phantom won’t be radically overhauled from the outgoing model, allowing the car to still remain easily identifiable as the marque’s range-topping model. The first teaser shows off the Phantom’s revised front grille and the customary Spirit of Ecstasy flying above it.

As for the second teaser, it reveals the passenger side of the dashboard and shows a wooden accent with a very detailed pattern. An analogue clock can also be seen.

It has previously been confirmed that the new Phantom will be underpinned by an all-aluminum platform, ensuring it weighs significantly less than the old car. Additionally, Rolls-Royce’s global client sales manager for the Asia Pacific Region, Ian Grant, recently announced that the 2018 Phantom will have a four-wheel steering system.

A twin-turbocharged V12 engine is expected to be the standard engine on offer but a plug-in hybrid powertrain should arrive soon after.

New Rolls-Royce Phantom To Have Four-Wheel Steering, Be "Absolutely Beautiful"

Quote:
Rolls-Royce has been hyping their Bentley Bentayga competitor and has just revealed new details about the next-generation Phantom.

During a showroom opening in Australia, Rolls-Royce's global client sales manager for the Asia Pacific region, Ian Grant, told CarAdvice: “I’ve seen the vehicle personally, and it’s absolutely beautiful. The design lines are so striking, yet elegantly and impressively Rolls-Royce.”

Grant went on to say the model rides on an all-aluminum platform, enabling it to have a "lot less weight" than its predecessor. He also revealed the Phantom will have a four-wheel steering system, so the maneuverability and turning circle of the model will be "incredible" for something of its size.

The seventh-generation Phantom went out of production earlier this year and its replacement is scheduled to be launched in 2018. Little is known about the car, but previous spy photos have shown it will have an evolutionary design that makes it instantly recognizable as a Rolls-Royce.

We've only seen a few glimpses of the interior, however buyers can expect an upgraded cabin with a digital instrument cluster and a large infotainment system. Despite the focus on technology, the Phantom will continue to be elegantly equipped with premium leather upholstery and wood trim.

That's beautiful and all but why do they even need to release those things for the 3 people that can afford one and want one?

Between the Ghost and Phantom I definitely prefer the Ghost.

Ghost is a lot more maneuverable and I like its styling better, especially the interior.

Don't get me wrong they both drive nice, I just find it that the Phantom hood is way too long and way to high. It's a car to be driven in, where as the Ghost you can get away with being the driver.

I've driven both and my vote goes to Ghost.

New Rolls Royce Phantom Teased Again Ahead Of July 27 Debut

Quote:
Rolls Royce released one more teaser of the new Phantom as well as the final three Phantoms set to participate at the company’s event called “The Great Eight Phantoms”, where the new model will be revealed on July 27.

While we’ve might have already seen the new Phantom thanks to a recent leak, the British luxury car maker released a shady image showing the profile of the new Phantom’s front end.

The other three Phantoms include the State Limousine first used by the Queen of England in 1977 which features a custom bodywork with a raised roofline for better visibility during official ceremonies.

The second car is the Phantom IV that belonged to Aga Khan, the leader of the Nizari Ismaili Muslim community. This car features a Hooper coachwork with the rear wheels enclosed while the interior is dressed in red leather. It took Rolls Royce 2 years to build, from 1950 to 1952, because of its many bespoke additions, including an adjustable mirror, concealed silver brush, comb and compact that are all engraved with the Aga Khan’s royal crest, a built-in Dictaphone and a full picnic set.

The third car is the first Goodwood Phantom, which formally begun the renaissance of Rolls Royce in 2003. Three months after its official debut, the first Goodwood Phantom was shipped to Australia where its owner took it on an epic 4,500-mile trip. 1 4 years after, the car remains in “exceptional” condition.

Stay tuned for the reveal of the all-new Rolls Royce Phantom next week.
