Rattle noise from drive door

I hear a rattle noise from driver door in potholes, How to fix it?
I attached a video as well.

When I put a folded paper in here, the sound stops.

Are you the original owner and/or have you pulled the door card? Definitely a clip or grommet either broken or missing.

Ditto to what Joe said. Door panels are typically held on with plastic pins...one is either missing, broken or crushed and no longer securing your door panel. I found the ones on my E39 BMW and keep several handy, as the door panels have to come off every few years to reseal the vapor barriers. I can inspect and replace any that get broken during the removal process.

Yes, I am the owner of the car, but I bought it used. What do you mean by 'Door Card'? Is something missing or lost?

The interior door panel you are pushing on that is not secured is often call a “door car”.

Someone removed it, maybe the dealer to address something at some point internal to the door (speakers, etc) and most likely one of the many pins or fasteners broke putting it back on, which basically involves lining up the pins and clips and popping the panel with your fist to pop it back on.

VERY is fix. You just need to pop it off and resecure it with a new pin or two. The area that is loose is where the culprit is.

Thank you Joe

Should I remove the whole cover or only the bottom-left side?

I found a video for it.

If you’re like me, I would try to peek first by just popping the bottom off enough to look and see if you can get a new push pin in there and done. Seems like you’re missing one on the bottom. Can’t hurt to try that first, you can always pop the whole card off if that doesn’t do the trick.

Now full disclosure, I would probably pay the dealer to sort it out. Not because it’s hard, but because it’s probably cheap enough and they do this all the time. I pop the door cards off my E39 all the time, but I’d probably couple this with an oil change.

Make sure you have a set of vinyl tools. I use them all the time for many things. Don’t use a metal pry tool or screwdriver.

The handle bar is the biggest pain, popping the clips off isn't so bad. You probably don't need to remove the whole door card, but will likely need to pop off the bottom too to inspect and slide in a new clip. For this car, the clips they use often break and are pretty much single use. If you are going to pop the door card off, buy 10 of these clips first and replace all the broken ones before you snap it back in. By broken, if they are don't look exactly the same as the new ones, replace them.

I've checked the clips, and they appear to be fine. It seems the noise is coming from the plastic. I applied Gummi-Pflege spray to the edge of the yellow circle, and that resolved the issue.
