Just wanted to point out the pricing is about what you'd say for a new OEM headlight cluster assembly for the G30 (per side) in the US...at least from the dealer...

I saw some pictures on Facebook of someone who installed them. They are plug and play and don't need coding as all the wiring is internal. However, I thought they looked like cheap knockoffs from a lighting perspective.

Can't we compare a US LCI model coding against US pre LCI to see why welcome lights don't work? I think if we had a snap shot of both we could most likely determine the missing piece.

I think theres something different within the idrives that the LCI has and the preLci dont.

It's funny reading this old thread and what my position was on LCI tails. Talk about a 180 I did! I think I spent around $1400 all in only a few months after my "no way" comment, lol. Guess seeing more and more LCI's on the road haunted me into upgrading.

Still my #1 favorite mod. No regrets.

Hahaha I was thinking the same thing a few minutes ago, just happening across your old comments. So funny!

I might be the only guy that likes his pre-LCI tails. If I got an LCI G30, I'd love those too. I think all the G30's look good. It's not that I dislike the LCI's that guys like you have done. They look awesome! At first, I was keeping an itemized list of parts and cost and really intrigued. For whatever reason, I've just settled on it not being a mod that itches for whatever reason.

But like you, I could totally pull a 180 next spring. Time will tell!

Yeah, I didn't "dislike" the pre-LCI tails, it was just the more I saw the LCI tails on the G30 and frankly the complete product line, it just grew on me to the point I thought the pre-LCI lights looked old and dated. Mind you, I had an F10 and the G30 Pre-LCI's are very similar. I still walk up to the back of my car and marvel at the transformation. That said, it's all subjective. I definitely dismissed them out of hand. I think my comments were posted shortly after I took delivery and I was certainly in the state of mind of just loving it as is. We all know my "as is" of a year and a half ago is far from "what it is" now. I love the 3D look of the BMW LCI tails.

I've owned about 15 BMW's and I have never modded any of them like I did this one. It's fun and keeps it fresh and keeps me interested. I'd say the only mod I did to the older BMW I have had was swapping out the tails on an E38 for the LCI tails. Pretty much the only difference was a white section on them vs. amber. Boy was that a simple swap compared to the G30 upgrade. Literally remove, plug in and replace.
