flickering Icon Adaptive LED headlights in daylight

Hi, the Icon Adaptive LED headlights on my out of warranty 2017 540 are constantly turning on and off when driving in bright daylight, when set to auto mode. It does stay on all the time at night though. Anybody has experienced this before? Thoughts on how to diagnose and fix it? Anyone knows where the sensor is located?

Mine used to do this. The fix is to update the car's software (specifically the BDC, KAFAS and FLER/L ECUs). Since I updated my I-Level/Step, the headlights haven't been exhibiting this behavior.

Unfortunately, since you are out of warranty, you'll have to take it to the dealer for a fee ($300 or so). You can DIY if you're tech savvy or know someone who is. You'll need a laptop, E-Sys with the latest PSdZData (use Google), an ENET to OBD adapter/cable and a 14VDC power supply that can provide a stable under load 50+A to the car.

Now I am having this flickering issue on my 2020 with my headlights turning on in daylight just briefly. It's really weird as I can sometimes see the reflection off the car in front of me at traffic lights. No problem at night.

Similar to the OP, does anyone know where this sensor is located?

Behind the rear mirror, between the KAFAS kameras

I have a 2017 G30 and never had this problem btw
