M550i emblem discoloration

Anyone else have this discoloration on the M550i emblem on the back??

It looks like maybe there was a film or cover over the emblem that the dealer forgot to remove. I've tried a few removal chemicals and nothing is touching it.

I had the same thing. You can just scratch it off using your nail, and maybe some water to help. Mine looks fine now.

I used a little alcohol on a clean rag.

Hmmmm...I should check mine. My car was ordered with a factory badge delete. I had the dealer put them on. I wonder if they removed the film.

Yes, mine looks like that as well. My car arrived without the "i" at the end of M550. My dealer added it a few weeks after it arrived. The "i" is clean but I still need to remove the adhesive on the rest of the badging.

A little WD40 on a cloth will remove most adhesive residue and won't affect your paint. I wouldn't leave it on the paint for long, but it won't hurt it. This also works for removing paint from road stripe painting if you ever get any of that on your paint. Same with tar or asphalt.

Just checked mine. All good, seems the dealer did their job.

My buddy worked for Hertz in the 80's. They used to use WD40 to clean/detail their cars…ridiculous, but it was a hell of a bug tar remover.

I found same thing on my car after I saw this post. Otherwise I would never think of looking at that emblem closely. I probably just would not do anything about it. People driving behind you will never get that close or there will be much bigger concern than that.
