Fingers crossed for all of us waiting to board! Though it looks like now the ship heads to Georgia and South Carolina BEFORE going to New York. The schedule keeps changing.

Weird that it would head to GA and SC first before NY. Guess they have a huge load to pick up going back to Europe. It may change too.

Finally made it on to a ship ...
Found out a short while ago that my car has made it on to a ship. To my surprise, it is on the Progress Ace, a ship that's part of Mitsui OSK Lines.
ANYONE ELSE ON BOARD WITH ME? Apparently it is heading straight to Bayonne, NJ from Bremerhaven with an ETA of 9-November. My OCD has once again kicked in as I track this ship. Progress so far: 111 Order Accepted 9/11/20 112 Scheduled for Production 9/11/20 150 Production Started 9/24/20 151 Body Shop Started 10/1/20 152 Paint Shop Started 10/1/20 153 Assembly Started 10/5/20 ### Quality Check 10/6/20 155 Production Completed 10/6/20 160 Vehicle Handover to Sales 10/6/20 165 In-Transit to Port of Departure (Leaving Factory) 10/6/20 182 Schedule for Carrier 10/6/20 190 In-Transit to Port of Exit (To Port) 10/15/20 193 Arrived at Port of Exit 10/20/20 195 Shipped from Port of Exit 10/30/20

Did your status in MyBMW change to "in transit"?
I've been at the port since 10/12, and just checked, my status still says "At the port". Wondering if I'm on your ship or Toronto |

Perhaps you might be on this ship. After NYC, it goes to Baltimore, Charleston, Georgia, Long Beach (California), British Columbia, and then 2 stops in Japan. Do Seattle-bound cars disembark in Long Beach?

Oh good, that means there's a chance I'm on the same ship as you. I hope I am as this one will arrive earlier 11/9 vs Toronto which arrives 11/15.
But weird it's going to Baywood and not Newark. Wonder if that is normal or if it would cause delay |

It's going to Bayonne. I think the system goofed when it read the first three letters BAY. All good. The ship's itinerary (available online) clearly identifies Bayonne as the first stop.
I'm glad it's getting to NYC earlier than the Toronto ... which still seems to be at the port in Bremerhaven.

Yah I see that now, Bayonne not Baywood lol
To answer your question, I'm using a broker out in NJ so it is arriving there and then I need to have it trucked to Seattle |

Your CA should be able to tell you if you're on a ship. If not, you can always call BMW Customer Service -- 1-800-831-1117. Good luck.

First and foremost, you are doing the right thing by tracking at https://mygarage.bmwusa.com/. Please note, My Garage is not always up to date. Sometimes, your CA (client advisor) and BMW Customer Service (1-800-831-1117) can have more updated information ... but not always. Once the car gets to the port and is awaiting a ship, you probably won't know it is on a ship until after the ship has sailed. Here is where your CA and BMW Customer Service will have more up to date information ... as My Garage typically updates 1-3 days later. Once you know the ship, you can go to various websites to track it. I like using Marine Traffic. If you want more specific information about the ship's itinerary, then you'll need to identify the shipping company (e.g., Wallenius Wilhelmsen, K Line, etc.). Mine, surprisingly, is on a Japanese ship owned by Tohmei Shipping. Each shipping company publishes its routes and schedules. If you are using the free tracking services, like Marine Traffic, you will only get limited tracking information and only while the ship is near land. Once the ship gets into the great big pond between Europe and North America, you won't get information. That said, all of the tracking sites offer paid plans which provide more information and many of the plans offer free trials. Another thing you can do to help satiate your OCD: most ports have live webcams. Though you can't see a lot, I was able to notice my ship on the Bremerhaven webcam. In the past, I was also able to see my ship coming into the NYC harbor as there were webcams available there too. Specific to you, Infosec, my car took 14 days from "dispatched from factory" to "arrived at port" ... despite the fact that the train ride from Dingolfing to Bremerhaven is about 7 hours. Just because it says "dispatched" doesn't mean it has actually left. You want to see "In Transit" which indicates it has left the factory and is on the way to the port. Something else to consider, Germany, like some other European countries, is going into lockdown on Monday. Undoubtedly, this will impact every car that hasn't already left Bremerhaven. Hopefully this information will give you some things to do while you try to be patient! Best of luck.

I'm at port in Charleston now, having stopped at Brunswick, GA yesterday. Next destination Panama Canal, those on the Progress Ace will still get unloaded first. I hope many on this thread will get their cars in a few weeks time!

Thank you for the detailed information. Today it shows “STATUS: AT THE PORT” I will be picking up X5 and 535ix in Dec 2nd or 3rd week. Hope it will make to the States by that time. I’m on the west coast if that’s matter. |

cosmoxi -- not that I needed any additional confirmation, but I just was able to track my VIN on the Progress Ace's shipping line website: https://www.molace.com/TRK/Search#.
Knowing you are on the same ship, I wanted you to know. And ... once you do that, you'll have the Booking number for that voyage. And ... once you have that, and search by booking number (instead of by VIN), you can see ALL the BMW VINs on the vessel.

admannj That's interesting, thank you ! I did not know about that feature.
Looks like Progress Ace is delayed one day... I was aiming to take delivery by the 14th when my current lease expires. It will be close.... |
