My car is home!!!
Someone apparently hit me on the passenger side and put dents in both passenger side doors and drove away.
so my car has been at the body shop. In the meantime, I asked Enterprise for a "luxury" car and got a Mustang convertible. Wow...what a dog compared to my BMW 530e. I didn't appreciate how smoothly my car runs until I had to drive the Mustang. Yesterday afternoon I got my car back. Now I truly appreciate it. |

Awesome! Glad it is back and in good condition.
Did you use a BMW Certified Body Shop and how do you feel about the repair quality? |

It's funny -- I had been tracking the progress of the current GT500 for quite some time. I was convinced that's what I wanted to get as my next vehicle. I went from a 2010 535xi to a 2014 F150 Limited which I still have. My wife's brother came to visit last summer (2019) and his rental was Mustang GT. I drove it and while I know there's a massive difference between the GT and the GT500... it was at the moment I made up my mind I was going back to BMW. |

Once you go BMW it's difficult to go back to anything else unless you're Porsche. I don't want to test drive a 911. I'm only in my 20s the 5 series is good enough for me!

So I used that collision center. From what I can tell, they did a great job. I went first to the center associated with my seller to see if I should just get it repaired by myself (I have a $1,000 deductible). They told me that they didn't think the doors would repair well being aluminum and would likely need to be replaced which would be relatively pricy. The center I did go to tried to repair the dents. But they told me they were unhappy with the repairs and they replaced the doors (the skin of course...all the internals were moved including the soft close motors). Then, of course, they painted the doors (Bluestone metallic). It also looks like they detailed the whole car. The car looks great. But I was fortunate that a BMW dealership collision center was on the GEICO list. |

After two and a half years of ownership of the vehicle, I am not into taking pictures like I did when it was new. |
