4 bent rims again... 1 year 3 months left on lease.
hey folks,
i had two bent rims and BMW tagged me about 1200 bucks to get them fixed. Yes i know i'm a moron, but the stealership got me. My g30 will be my last BMW car. Sticking with SUV's after this. Now i have 4 bent rims. I feel like their engineers need to come here to the pothole states to design their wheels. Can't use perfect german roads. Come to libtard nation, where tax payer money is used to teach nonsense to our kids and not fix our roads. That rant aside. I am done with BMW crap wheels. Anyone recommend 4 wheels that can handle a tri-state beating for 1.5 years? I don't mind spending 300-400 per wheel, but don't want to spend over that. Thanks. |

Can I throw a curve ball out there as another possible option?
Just thinking out loud but maybe stimulate discussion Rather than looking at the wheels, a change to normal tyres from run flat Run flats obviously transfer a lot of the impact to the wheels whereas normal tyres will absorb more of that. |

Aftermarket wheels and generally not as well built as OEM ones that have been tested extensively, especially with the budget you've set for wheels.
Fixing a minor bend from a reputable shop is $50-80 CAD. Fixing 2 bends in a wheel or one major bend is anywhere from $100 to $150 CAD. As AP mentioned, switching to non run flat tires may improve longevity of the wheels in addition to delivering a more comfortable ride. You can also go up a size in terms of sidewall ratio. I currently have 245 40 R20 front and 275 35 R20 rear, that 5 aspect ratio higher than OEM tore size for G30 with 20 inch wheels. If you have 19 inch wheels then 245 45 R19 front and 275 40 r19 rear will work. Please note that this will increase the ride height of your vehicle by a few mm but will not cause any rubbing issues or any issue really. |

The speedometer reading is negligible. Since the rolling diameter will be the same b/w front and rear, no additional strain will be applied on the Xdrive system. Thos would not be the case given the rolling diameters were different.
