Stop Sale
Anyone else in stuck at the VPC with this stop sale?
My 540i xdrive arrived at the Maryland VPC on 5/21 and I was supposed to pick it up this week. Got word that apparently there is a service campaign for the MSport Remote Radio. Corp BMW is as useful as tits on a bull and has informed me that they do not have a fix, but expect it to be to the dealership by June 20. |

That's a real bummer..
Several years ago I had an M5 on order and the week before I was set to do PCD there was a stop sale/delivery due to a recall on the rear differential. Delayed the delivery by 3-4 weeks, I hope your car gets to you quicker than that. |

First I have heard about this. I have an M550 coming into to Baltimore in a few days as well. Do you know if this is a full 5-series stop sale or limited to specific models/cars?

I wish I knew what exactly the issue was, but when I call BMW genius and my dealership I get two different answers:
1) BMW Genius - Simply said that it’s the MSport Radio Remote, which like you all I was very confused. They then go on to tell me that there is no fix identified yet and that the vehicle is due to my dealership around late June. 2) Dealership - It’s a software update and they can perform it at the dealership, shouldn’t be an issue, but now with a stop sale BMW can’t invoice and send it to my dealership. I’m guessing the truth is somewhere in the middle. If it’s was as easy as a software update, just ship the thing and let the dealer run the update... Incredibly frustrating to call BMW Genius and get 0 info out of them. It also doesn’t make sense that something that appears this small could cause a stop sale. On their sheet I also saw that an M5 and a 750i xdrive were also on stop sales... |

Finally an update....
Apparently 5 series and 7 series that were probably produced sometime in April/May were given the keys without some type motion sensor which means that the vehicles are more susceptible to theft. Sounds like the fix is ordering new keys for all of those 5s and 7s and then reprogramming them. Depending on when the car is made you might not even be able to buy a vehicle that is currently on the dealers lot... |

Came here from the M5 board to see if y’all had any further info.
I and some others are also stuck in this. There is the full SIB posted on our thread. I called the status line today and was told the remedy work order for my car was started on 5/27, two days after arriving in port at NJ. ETA is undetermined. Best of luck to all. |

My local dealer had a total of 4x M550i's and three of them had this stop sale on them. I ended up leasing the only one that didn't (production date of 3/22). No ETA on the fix yet per the dealer. Kinda sucks.

My 530e xDrive was at the port in Baltimore for about three weeks with this stop sale. It is my understanding MSports were the affected vehicles. The fix was new remotes. Picked up my car yesterday.

Any word on which weeks were affected by this? Mine's in transit at the moment... Was build week 21 (came off the line 5/27). Nervous, but hoping the problem was resolved starting with all new production a few weeks ago. |

Appreciate the detail. Looks like those of us outside that 3 week period wont be affected. Good luck gents. Sounds like some are getting their replacement keys pretty quickly at least. |

Spoke to Genius this morning and he informed me my 540xi, currently on the boat, is part of a current recall but he quoted me the following problem/soultion "retrofit receiver audio module".
Wonder what that is |

No changes over here unfortunately… Hopefully the VPC gets a cake to celebrate my one month anniversary.
It’s incredible to think that BMW can build so many of these vehicles with repeated precision, but then some n00b grabs the wrong keyfob and the whole thing is put into a frenzy. And you just know some corporate lawyer is saying they can’t deliver the cars to the dealerships because this could increase the risk in being stolen off the dealers lot. |

Does anyone here have an update on this stop sale? My friend has been waiting about a month now with his M550 sitting at the Oxnard VPC here in California.

My M550 sat in Baltimore for about 2 weeks, but just picked it up today. Don’t know if different VPC’s are taking longer, but they are definitely starting to deliver cars to dealerships.

It looks like they finally go the part(s) that they were waiting on as my friend was told they were releasing it to the dealer center. It ended up taking an additional 3-4 weeks sitting at the VPC. I have a car in production and hope nothing like this happens to me.

Update today. 540xi has been in Brunswick since the 18th. Awaiting the RAM to install. Genius and dealer have no insight on when the part will arrive or be installed. Waiting game is still being played

I turned in my leased 2018 M550 w/ only 17k miles on it, the lease buyout didn't make sense so I bought a new 2021 M550 only to be "stop-sale". In week 4 of waiting for a software update. I was told that it's an issue with the 0-60 time not performing as advertised it's interesting that all the other folks here have a remote issue. No end in sight of when the update will be available. So I'm in this loaner 330i for the foreseeable future. So irritated. So SO SO irritated. Hopefully we all get our cars soon just holding my car hostage.
