Questions on next step for a build
Hi Guys,
First time actually ordering a build and have a few questions on the timelines. 1. Reached out to the dealership with the build code/MSRP informaiton for a 2021 M550i. 2. After some haggling, we agreed on the numbers (discounts, incentives, DAS, monthly payment) 3. I put a deposit down. 4. Next day he said that they are "attempting to secure an allocation, hopefully one with a scheduled production date already. " 5. After reaching out about something elese the next day, he mentioned "I got notification of an allocation today so we are all set." My question is, does he complete all the ordering steps based on my build code or do we actually need to do this at the dealership physically? As of right now I did not hear back after he confirmed that he got the allocation and that "we are all set." What should I be expecting next? |

This thread has an amazing amount of detail on what's next:
https://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1315141 The short answer: Next, your dealer should give you a production number. You can now login at bmwusa.com (create an account if you don't have one already), then go to "My Garage," and "Add a Vehicle." Here, you can add a vehicle by VIN or production number, and you can track the progress from there! Then, just keep tracking a few times a day, obsessively, and post your results here in the forums. It causes a bit of anxiety, but all-in-all it's a lot of fun. Part of me misses the old way, where the dealer would say "6 to 12 weeks," and then you wouldn't hear anything more until the car arrived on the lot. Congrats on the car, good luck, and ENJOY!! |

I wasn't sure if that's typical or if you guys typically go over these details physically at the dealership where you have to sign off that you agree with the build. |

In addition to the build particulars, I would be concerned with any discounts/incentives you agreed to getting articulated in writing. |

Well, would you have it - I just got an email asking to confirm the build before I even reached out.
Thankfully they did ask me because I had made some changes to the original one which they didn't capture. |

Ok, so I got my build number and can already start tracking!
Quick question on the production. The "2022" is my car's year designation and does not mean that the car is scheduled for production in 2022, right??? |

Yea the process varies from dealer to dealer a bit. Mine just emailed me a quasi build sheet and asked me to sign it lol. They said something about a $1000 deposit but never took one. You can makes changes to your order still until it goes into production up to some point. Once it hits some status you can change only a handful of things and then at some point no more changes.

See the thread below. It shows the most current incenteives/rebates. The discounts is you would have to work on with the individual dealership as they can vary greatly.

Hi,
I looked there and I see some deals only for lease, not for purchase/finance. I am quite new to understand these deals. All I know is there are 2 things to look—one, how much dealer can give discount on MSRP, and second, incentives or rebates. My question is — will there be any bmw incentives/rebates for purchasing a vehicle for 2022 models. |
