DeJon,

Do the outlets (2 x 90 mm on each side) fit in the 540iX exhaust openings (M Sport version). Thanks!

It's a direct bolt on fit. I'm assuming so. The rear ends on the 540 and the M550 are the same. Maybe a slight difference. I just looked it up on GThaus.com in stock and ready to ship.

Dinan free flow axle-back that was last shown to ship this Friday, now showing slipped to 10/15/21. Ugh.

Dejon, Thanks. Thought you have a 540, but it appears the rear opening is the same on the 540 and M550.

I am in the same boat as far as the DINAN Exhaust, the supply chain issue is pretty bad. There is some progress, however nothing guaranteed yet sadly. With regard to the DINAN quoted hours, I can tell ya that on occasion, it has been rather conservative! LOL!

Appears my Dinan middle exhaust has shipped at last. The back axle muffler also on order since March is showing an October ship date. Big decision now is do I wait for the middle exhaust for install of all at once to save money or do the X Pipe now.

Anyone have thoughts on how the muffler effects the sound? Considering doing the X pipe now and rethinking the axle back unless the combo is additive in the right way.

Dinan Pipes Installed - Finally.

Dinan mid-pipe, axle back and remote flap control installed. No sound clips yet, but no drone or crazy stuff.

It is perfect for me. Not obnoxious, no drone and super clean install. The only issue is the car is so well insulated, the sound show is mostly for those outside the car. Will post some clips when it stops raining. I also installed the Dinan remote flap control so can effect things on the fly, regardless of driving mode.

The pipes do look pretty menacing and the piping underneath is a work of art. Expensive - yes, but is was a super clean install by my BMW dealer and so far could not be happier - unless I could pipe in the actual sound into the cabin (not the fake noise).

nice. thanks for the feedback. I was debating the Remus but I felt it took some of the German flavor out and added in just raw V8 American style a little too much for me.

I agree with the interior note. it's a shame. I find myself cracking the windows to hear the notes more.

looking forward to your clips.

for the flaps I'm guessing yours is pre '20?

also what color is your car?

With regard to the cabin being insulated well and not being able to hear the exhaust note, be careful what you ask for.

I had a Maserati before this and the cabin is poorly insulated. Great for hearing Maserati's beautiful sound, but it really compromised the audio quality of the already shitty system they come with. It was also very loud on the highway cruising. Between the road noise and the crappy acoustics, long rides were annoying.

I'm fine with the insulation - just enough comes through to know it is there.

On a related note, I had issues for the last 3 years with wind noise that appeared to come from my drivers window area. Not loud, but noticeable under speed. Several visits to the dealer resulted in "could not reproduce". This last visit the culprit was found - the drivers door handle. Evidently, there was a bulletin that references bad molding around the handle - problem solved. No more wind noise.

I'll keep an ear out for that. So far pretty quiet. I'm praying I never crack the windshield and need a new one. From experience with many cars over the years, there is always wind noise from the replacement over the factory.

You have no idea how many times in my life I've had a windshield replacement re-do and never to my complete satisfaction. They all got worse over time. I wish my dealer actually did them themselves.

Do anyone have sound clips for a Dinan catback exhaust for a 540...not a 550?

I'm exploring the possibility of adding a Dinan exhaust to my M550. I never liked the look of the trapezoid exhaust anyway. I've seen various installation pics & read Dinan's installation guide. It looks like in some installations, the pipes are sticking out much more than the 1/8" from inside that Dinan suggests (e.g. 23109VC's install). Is this personal choice?
