M550 catless DP's and resonator delete

So I purchased my '18 M550 a few month ago and instantly started modding because...well....why not?

First thing I did was delete the resonators for more sound not thinking I'd be doing catless downpipes any time soon. Well that lasted about a week or two before I came across a deal on the downpipes so on they went along with a BM3 Stage 2 tune.

Here's my problem and I'm hoping someone with the same experience can help. Below 3k RPM's and at 1/4 throttle the exhaust sounds so good...but anything more than 1/4 throttle and 3K rpm's it's rasp city...it's loud which I don't mind but my God...the rasp. You can hear the exhaust notes bouncing around in the muffler. For those that had this set up did you experience the same thing? Do you guys think putting the resonators back on will help or is there another suggestion out there?

Thanks guys!

You can try putting the resators back on or get catted downpipes instead

Could you put on just one of the resonators? I kept mine in case I had an issue when I go catless.

I too have an 18 M550. I heard one with your mods and it sounded the same as yours. It was too raspy for my taste which is why I went with 3" straight pipes with an X-pipe. I chose not to swap out my muffler, instead I changed the OEM tips. I am very happy with the sound.

I'm running BM3 with stage 1 on 93. In sport+ I get all the pops with a deep sound, love it!
I have sport+ set to aggressive/max duration everything. in Comfort I set everything to zero, the car is much quieter and stealthy - perfect highway setting. The car has two personalities.

Being able to switch between the two is why I personally didn't go with the downpipes. I know I'm loosing out on HP and speed but for me it's worth it.

Put one resonator back on, that's what I did and it removed most of the harsh raspiness while still being plenty loud. I later replaced the entire midpipe with 3" straights and found the sound to be deeper but ofc the rasp is back(just in deeper form which isn't as bad).

Did you do a custom Xpipe or something else ie Dinan? I'm thinking about doing the same exact mod as you, trying to get ideas thanks!

It could also be that your piping is touching somewhere other components (chassis etc), often happened when non OEM DP's are installed.
If that's not the case, you could have someone test different resonators with you to tune the sound of the solution.

Hey Frosty,
What's the latest? Did you put the resonator back on?
I'm interested in DP's, but don't want the rasp you describe.

Thank you!

Sorry been crazy busy with work. Nope, I believe I'm going to just keep it or maybe try an x-pipe instead of the straight pipe. The low end growl and throatiness is what's steering me to leave it as is
