Hey guys, so I just bought a 2021 540xi and I also have a 2021 x7 4.0 m sport (for reference). In my x7, when I put it in sport plus mode, I get a little burble when I shift and downshift, but I do not get the same sound in sport plus in my 540. Any idea as to why since they are I think the same engines ? Thanks

Burbles on the 540 are at a premium. Very hard to achieve. You would have to modify the exhaust system. I have the B58 in my X5 and it doesn't even come close to burbling. You aren't alone is what I am saying.

Different exhaust systems, length of mid pipes, resonator and probably the axleback. Possible different shift points on the tranny. I don't have a 540, so I am no expert, but I am immersed in the G30 platform and I don't remember anyone ever commenting on burbles with the 540.

Following though for the unmodified 540 crowd to weigh in.

Mine does it on occasion in sport plus when I am really on it. I have a Euro model though.

The car is usually relatively quiet unless you really open it up. I did a blast to 255 from about 50ish a few days ago on the A1 here and the sound was quite nice.

I didn't have it at first withy 2017. I am now stage 2+ with burble

Burble is not from engine, it’s from
Engine tuning and exhaust system setup. Neither of which is the same.

I've permanently opened the valve on the exhaust, sounds a little better but no real burbles, seeing as it's a straight 6 not a V8 you're never going to get real burbles..

My wife has a 2018 540I . She was with me yesterday in my Jaguar XK 5.0 coupe I took off pretty quickly to merge into traffic and got the V8 roar with some snap, crackle and pop when shifting .

First words out of her mouth were I wish my car sounded like that !

That's funny, my girlfriend would have and has the opposite reaction on my M550/Dinan. She thinks all this shit is cheesy and obnoxious.
