Does 90% even does anything? I know Lower the number darker the tint. So "limo" tint is 5%. I'm in Illinois and legal tint here is 30%. I have 5% in the back window and 20% all the way around. I would go dark 25% all the way around and use ceramic tint.

I wanted to say the tint is 10% at the back, so the darkest possible, which is legal. In the front we are not allowed to put any type of tint.

Oh ok . Yeah as long as you're at "legal" you're good. My tint actual read 19% haven't gotten stoped yet. My previous m5 had 20% all they way Around and 50% windshield I didn't like that felt like I had sunglasses on when driving at night.

Yes I'm sure, tinting the windshield is not a good idea, it is a matter of safety.

Dark as I could get
I’m using 20% (Ceramic) I love the look and it helps with the heat in Tennessee. So far, about two years, I have not been stopped for it even though it is way more than allowed.

I went with 20% ceramic all around and 50% on the windshield. I think it turned out great, my tint guy is the man!

OP, several people are posting "ceramic". There's crap tint and quality tint out there, with some crap product labeled and marketed as ceramic. Do your homework on film. There's many good options at a reasonable price such as Suntek CXP or their slightly better performing "ceramic" labeled CIR. Suntek is an Eastman owned company (same owners as Llumar, Forumula One Pinnacle) and Eastman is one of the largest raw material tint suppliers in the world. Then there's higher end films with noticeably better specs such as Xpel Prime XR and XR+, Spectra Photosync, etc. Some tint can cost as much as $700+ to do a sedan. Buy wisely.
More important is the installation. Find a shop with a plotter to computer cut your tint. Many shops who also do PPF use Xpels plotter software which is excellent. The advantage of computer cut is no razor blades on your glass and no cut rubber, etc... Also find a shop with a closed garage bay. Tinting a car outside, or in an open garage, will increase the amount of foreign debris caught under the film. Good luck

I got 35% all the way around (not windshield) and kind of wish I went darker now. If there was an option to get 25% I'd do it. At 35% … Depending on the lighting it can look decently dark to barely tinted IMO.

I went with 15% all around with Ceramic tint. I was originally looking at 35%, but I'm glad I went 15. I want to do the windshield in like 95% if possible just to reflect the heat. I live in Sunny CA and it is illegal to tint the front windows, but we all do it anyways. Kind of like how we don't run front plates.

I just did 20% Xpel Prime XR Plus. Didn't do windshield yet, but if I do I'm thinking 70 or 50.
That 20/50 combination looks great! Last edited by maDjzo; 06-19-2021 at 06:52 PM.. |
