2016 BMW 5 series or 2017 BMW 5 series?
Apologies for the double post (in the F10/11 forum as well).... I need to make a decision soon so I want to seek help from fellow BMW fans:
2016 BMW 5 series or 2017 BMW 5 series I am debating about the 2016 5 series or the 2017 5 series. One is HEAVILY discounted (as in some crazy sale price and even crazier lease price)... or wait and pay premium on the 2017. Based on current photo the look for the 2017 is obviously better, but not by THAT much.... There's no telling if the new G30 will flop like the old 7.... but that being sad, I rarely get model when I know a newer model is coming down the pipe but the deal is just so darn attractive... I think getting an ACCORD will cost more than the 5 series at this point :P Any suggestions? |

I am in the same boat! Such a dilemma. Although price wise there is no way to compare because G30 lease or residuals are not even existent

You'll need to wait until we see actual pricing, but as long as you understand that if you go f10, you'll be paying new car prices (even if discounted) for a car that is already obsolete even before you sign the papers for the car... then just go with what appeals to you.

Wait, if your 2016/17 is discounted it will be even more in 6 months once production is in full swing. Again I think within a few months we will start seeing the G30s at dealerships for test drives. An by March, should start becoming a common thing. Its unlikely the G30 will flop, I don't think the 7 did. But again the customer base is different from a 5 series. A base 7 is almost 25k more than what you can find a base 5 for. Different market, sales, driving dynamics. My vote is wait until you can drive one, production has already started and models should start showing up within a few months. An deals on the F10 if that's what you want will get better. I myself need more live photos and in person time before I can pass judgment. So far all the prototype reviews have been great as long as you spec the right options. So I think the 5 is back with the G30. bavarianboar |

I was on the same boat and pulled the trigger on the F10.
Between the 1st year production glitches and the premium you are going to pay for the car, to me it was not worth it. By the time my F10 lease is up in summer of 2019, I would either order a LCI G30 or take advantage of the 2019s that are on the lot. This car is my daily, so I don't care that much for the latest and the greatest. Now, if we were talking about a garage queen (M5), I would totally wait for the latest and greatest.

The G30 like won't flop like the 7er I guarantee that. They got it right on this one.
I'd go for the F10 if you're planning on leasing. They'll sort out the glitches and have better deals by the time you're ready for a new car. |
