The reason that I'm so upset by this is because I was considering the next gen M5 as my next car. Does anyone else feel this way?

I d get panamera or model S if i was in the market for this type of a car.

Seems like BMW is falling behind when it comes to technology. I was hoping for a decent upgrade in tech from the 7 series release, but it looks like it is pretty much the same.

I must have missed it, but does anyone know when our 535d (European 530d) will come out? While I liked the 535i, I love the 535d for the torque and insane gas mileage (I drive a lot).

Overall I like the changes. I'll definitely get it in the second year when my lease is up. Hopefully by then the German engineering gets ironed out a little...

With the 540i having only 335hp 332 torque, people will most likely flock towards the E43 AMG which also has a 6 cylinder engine with 400 HP and good sounding exhaust, assuming they will be closely priced. The M550i will bridge the gap but it will most likely be waaaay more expensive than a E43.

I prefer the old fashioned one.

It's funny, digital dashboard is probably less expensive than the analog, but they are even charging additional ~500 for it
I really hope we can order these without that bullshit digital dash. Complete garbage.

A well equipped E43 is about $85-88k. A well equipped M5 is about $110k.

So the M550i is likely to be close to the E43 I think.

Handling? When did that become a requirement for a Mercedes fan?

German price list is out:

http://www.bmw.de/dam/brandBM/market...6287602225.pdf

The prices are pretty much the same as for the F10. It starts ~2000 more, but it has a bit more standard equipment, so it's more or less the same.

One thing I noticed and did not like so much, is that it is not possible to take Adaptive drive (dynamic drive + dynamic damper control) and Integral steering (4 wheel steering) together...

So now the question is, which one to choose.

I do see an option for LED Headlights. So glad these aren't required. I would much rather have Xenon headlights with LED tail lights than LED headlights and trails. Though from the production photos it seem like BMW's is cheaping out on us and still making the Xenon headlight turn signals bulbs.... Even though the F10 launch car had LED turn signals and they took them away at LCI. What a rip off.
No more Xenon. The option are regular LED headlights (circles), or adaptive (connecting to grill).

Finally BMW did few things right. I guess that they were listening?

No more horizontal hood line, standard LED lights. AND FINALLY, after others have years doing it, BMW has exhaust pipes that incorporate in the bumper! It was about ... past time...

Per total is nice, don't like the headlamps that touch the nostrils though. Hoped for a 2 series style design... Like the actual ones better.
Waited for the car and now I am baffled.

I like it. ( and I like the new 7 too ) I have been looking forward to this for way too long. So expectations (hopes) were extremely high. I am so happy the hood-line is gone from the new 7 and new 5.

I've given up on the idea of a manual in a new sedan, especially the 550. I hope when the next version of the M3/4 comes out it will also have an unbroken hood. The hood line killed it for me all current/prev gen. :\

Yes the grills are giant and the lights are giant, and the rear end is like the rear of every other car now. Overall I like it. I think I will really like it very soon.

The only two things I hate is the absurd amount of sensors and cameras on every corner/panel/surface. the one in between the kidney grills is just stupid. That couldnt have been hidden/put in the grill? And the black-grey plastic thing on the rear bumper is awful looking. Like every kia/hyundai/*everything*

Expectation is that the 550 will get the N63TU. I see mention of "revised chain guides" in some other older threads. Does that mean, not a time-bomb, or "improved" so-actually-more-time-bomb-you-better-lease-and-run?

I don't think E43 prices will be that high in the US... I would expect them to be closer to 540i prices than M550i prices.

The M550i will be pretty much a lease-only car due to the engine, so that's a factor as well until they start using a more durable engine (it looks like they do have a new 4L V8 coming.) Meanwhile, I think the Audi S6 will continue to be the one to get in this segment if you want to buy.

Looks REALLY good. I may plan to get the LCI version down the road in a few years.

No Individual colors yet?
I have also checked pricelist on BMW.de, and have noticed the dash can only be covered with Sensatec fake leather, and no Nappa leather. I hope it will be available very soon.
