M550 badge letters spacing - help...installing new badge...
can anyone help with this when you're around your car? buddy wants me to install his gloss black badge but he already took off his cerium one, so we can't tell how far apart the M is from the 5 and then how far apart between the 5-5-0 and i... does that make sense? they don't look correct on the new badge, they may have shifted in shipment and he wants it perfect, thanks!

That was a mistake. Should have left the old one on until he was ready to swap it. Then he could have outlined the old one in painters tape and you have the exact spot for the new one.
I guess I'm not much help considering what's done is done.

EDIT: The photos are not saving to the post after uploading. I'll have to upload them later... The M badge goes exactly 12" to the right most part of the BMW logo. The letter "M" to the letter "i" is just over 7" total width. The "i" should be exactly 5" from the crease of the trunk lid towards the top of the taillight that tilts up and to the right. I will reattempt the photo upload from my computer when I get back home. |

I took a picture with some measurements. The whole piece is just over 7".
The gap between the M and the 5 is just over 1/4". The gap between the numbers is less than 1/4". Hope this helps! Last edited by drjolokia; 04-04-2019 at 11:49 PM.. |

Anyone have good results painting their badge pieces gloss black? Any recommendations for primer or paint brand?
