Joe,
Here's the latest update (11 months in) for spray on, wipe off ceramic coatings

Gtechniq did pretty good, has been weak since the 7 month mark, but still hanging in there. The cost/performance leader is Griots Garage 3 in 1 ceramic spray $20! Still very hydrophobic at 11 months. Obviously on a garaged car these products can last much longer. I am still using up the crappy CarPro Reload that failed at 2 months. But on my Ferrari it lasts for 7 or 8 months since it rarely sees rain.

The future seems to be in the graphene products, which seem to be performing well, but more expensive.

Thanks Dave, this will be a good lunch time watch today. I did start it and see the Turtle Wax Ice on it. I am curious to see how this fares as I have a ton of it and just don't like it. For me it's more about how it goes on and how nicely it wipes dry. I hate haze and having to buff the shit out of it to get it clear. In terms of longevity, I am a little over the top. I enjoy applying this kind of stuff, so I would be applying any of them once a month or so. It's kind of therapeutic, this weekend I cranked up the AC in the garage on these wet and humid days we have here and went at it.

But all the recent stuff is failing after a few months...he started logging lot numbers or year of production trying to figure out what was going on. Not sure he figured it out.

+1 on CarPro CQuartz 3.0 it has consistently shown excellent durability going on close to 2 years. Just don't use the CarPro Reload as the "topper" or detail spray with it...as the Reload has poor durability losing it hydrophobic qualities after 30 days or less. Griot's Garage 3 in 1 Ceramic Spray would be a better option.
I didn't think you were supposed to use the 3 in 1 in conjunction with the ceramic coatings as it's a ceramic "wax". As I was under this impression, I use the Griot's Ceramic Speed shine to top off my ceramic coatings which I apply at least once a month. But I suppose if it's going on top of the ceramic coating, it should be fine.

I don't think it matters much. I just picked up some samples of the Griot's Garage Ceramic Speed Shine at a local car event (they are local around here and give out samples all the time). I asked about the differences between it and 3 in 1 and he said the Speed Shine was for more frequent use (lower cost per ounce) yet still has a good amount of ceramic in it.

It will be interesting to see ScottHD add the Ceramic Speed Shine to his durability tests and see how it compares.

Agree, there are a lot of other variables not being discussed, like streaking, hazing, and ease of use.

I'm trying to use up my crappy CarPro Reload, so on a couple of my cars I use it after each wash during the dry down. For my daily drivers that sit outside, about every four or five months I use a clay mitt after washing, then the Griots 3 in 1 Ceramic Spray.

I am definitely going to try the Griots 3-1 when my C2V3 is gone.

I have been a diehard Adam's and Chemical Guys fan for years. With that said, I have been mixing Griots into the mix, specifically their Best in Show Detailer. With its almost instant flashpoint I can use it in the sun if need be on my dark graphite M550. It also boosts up the luster. I ceramic coated my wife's new black Mercedes and use the ceramic speed shine to keep it clean - great stuff!

I got a sample a while back of the Best in Show Detailer, but have not yet tried it. Sounds like another winner. Being in the Seattle area, I am able to pick up a sample or two at each car show (they sponsor many local shows) as they always have a table...lately they have been giving out small bottles (6oz?) of Ceramic Speed Shine and Best in Show Detailer. Last spring they were giving out full 22 oz bottles of their Ceramic 3 in 1 Wax!

Its a great marketing program, as it seems to always get me hooked on their stuff. Super friendly and helpful staff too.
https://www.griotsgarage.com/home.do

It amazes me after all these years of driving to Tacoma, WA to pick their products up, you can find it at many mass merchant stores, and even local specialty car repair shops. They have really gone "big time". They sponsor car shows at their store in Tacoma most weekends, and depending on the Club or car maker headlined, can have a huge turn out. https://www.griotsgarage.com/categor...t+us/events.do

Inside they have the owner's cars on display (always changing) as well as customer cars on loan for a month at a time.

They have also added a car restoration shop recently and our car club got a tour. https://griotsmotors.com/about-us

Old post...but I thought I would add my 2 cents worth. Zymol hands down for me. You can use it on your windshield, plastics and black trim. I've used it on my 93 mustang for 29 years and the paint is original and mint. I use it on my Viper as well. I don't know many that have as many years experience with a wax product. Easy on...easy off.

Wax is very much a last century coating, unless you're topping a ceramic or graphene coating with wax for the optimum shine.

Just a side note…over the years, Zymol became more of "marketer" than selling detail products as car care products/accessories are getting very competitive everyday. Back in the days (80's/90's), various waxes were considered go-to products for paint preservation. Almost all ceramic or graphene coatings can achieve same or greater level of protection/gloss/shine when compared to various carnuba wax products out there.

Came here to say the same thing - Ceramic coat it - then you don't need to wax at all. Just do the regular hand wash with the ONR (optimum no rinse) and you're done.
And you can clay bar it annually if you like, on top of that.

(I used to wax my other car back in the day before ceramic coats existed)
Do you feel like Adams rinseless wash is an equal product? And would you use the same rinseless wash method if you didn't have the ceramic protection?

Never used it personally.
It does speed up the wash time - so i'd try it once at least.

-wash
-decontaminate with something like Iron X
-clay bar
-polish
-panel wipe
-ceramic coat
-top coat

Sounds like a lot of work (and it is) but it will produce results far better than a "wash and wax" and will last quite a bit longer as well.

Two coats of CQuartz UK 3.0, plus one coat of Gliss, plus a top coat of Reload (all CarPro products) and you will be set. Simple re-apply Reload (or another SiO2 top coat) every 6 months and you'll be very happy with the results.

Reload has the worst durability of any of the ceramic "topper" products. Less than 30 days when outside constantly in ScottHD tests on youtube. Better to use Griots 3 in 1 Ceramic Spray Wax or Meguires Hybrid Ceramic Wax...both will go 8+ months outside in the weather, no problem. Check here for his unbiased, no sponsorship tests: https://www.youtube.com/c/ScottHD/videos

CQuartz UK 3.0 is one of the better products for durability in his tests (I use it too)

Thanks for the info and the URL, will check it out.

Wonder if he tests "Clutch" (by Shine Supply). I've used that for a while and been quite happy. [EDIT: Looks like Shine Supply Clutch lasted 5 months, failed at the 7 month mark.]

My car is garaged daily and only driven about 6k miles/year, so Reload should be "good enough" but I will check out the comparison. Thanks again.
