If you don't like blue you can get the M Performance brakes. They are red and even larger with slotted disc.
Thanks for the info. I do like the blue calipers, which is really why I ordered them. However, as noted in my original "first impressions" given to BMW NA enumerated in a nearby thread, I really am not happy with the pedal feel of the M Sport brakes. I think I will go over to my dealer sometime soon and drive cars with and without the M sport brakes if they have them to see if they feel different from standard brakes and if they are the same as my car. When needed they do stop well. And I so far have not noticed a lot of brake dust, but I have the car washed fairly regularly. Will be looking for low dust pads later this spring. --Bob

OP: I have the M-sport package on my 540 G31 and cannot remember ever feeling that the brakes did not modulate well.
In fact, even in comparison with my F80 I am pleasantly surprised both by the feel of the brakes and also their stopping power. I haven't tried to torture test them, repeated retardation from 250km/h on autobahn this summer (in sweltering 45°C) were not a problem, so I am happy.

Are you sure yours have bedded in properly? I cannot recall any extensive bedding-in period on mine, but perhaps that can explain the difference?

Hello, you must be responding to someone else. I'm the OP. I have the M Sport brakes that come standard on my M3. They could be the best brakes I ever had. That's why I want them on my 540.

Yeah it was me questioning the M Sport Brakes. They are very good brakes but I have not so far liked the pedal feel. My recent points of comparison are my 2010 E60 (on which I never replaced original pads in nine years and 46,000 miles), my 2016 Corvette Z06 with standard steel brake rotors, my wife's 2014 328xi and two mid 90s ZR-1s. All have had very impressive brakes that are strong and linear in feel. I don't find the M Sport brakes linear. First half inch to one inch of pedal travel nothing happens, even the Cruise Control doesn't kick off. Next inch or so is normal and if you really hit them hard they really grab. Overall I am happy with their stopping power, just the pedal feel seems out of sync for me. I will check with my dealer, drive a few of their cars, and see if there might be something wrong with my car's brakes or if it is just my imagination. --Bob
