Sony Slt-a65

Anyone have any personal experience with this camera? Wifey wants a dslr for Xmas and the reviews are great, but want to know if anyone has any comments good or bad.

Thanks!

Might be kinda late but based off what I've been reading on the a65 most of it is very positive. I'm personally looking to upgrade to the a77 when I get a chance.

I sat down and tested the new Sony Alpha range last week and have to say, very very impressed!

the only thing about purchasing a camera from someone other than Nikon/Canon - is that manufacturer's future is uncertain and there's no room for growth. Like buying a bunch of HD DVD players and then, yeah. Not that their cameras are bad, but Sony could pull out of the professional camera market and then concentrate on making a bunch of mirrorless cameras instead, because the giant corporation felt it would be better for their profits.

They wont, not any time soon. They have just started pushing their SLT range real hard and still pushing the likes of the A77 to rival Canon and Nikon high end bodies but it is still a tough call to make. The mirrorless cameras are amazing and waiting for the NEX-7 here before I pick one up but not enough to kill off their DSLR range.

I STILL want the A900 though.

Sony has a long history of developing cool stuff and then abandoning it for the next market development - they are a bit more about tapping markets than satisfying the long term needs of consumers and even professionals.

Not saying the product is not a good one, at all - just that money is better invested in a company like Nikon or Canon. But then again, we are only talking about a camera for his wife to shoot around with.

Thank you for the insights in your replies. Wifey is pretty dead set on the A65 now. She will probably change her mind again by the time I find one in stock.
