My dad was telling me the other day to think whenever I buy stuff..
Americans make high quality products, that are durable.
Japanese have mastered the art of mimicking and making things cheaply.

Something a long those lines.. cant remember exactly what he said.

+1. That statement about 40 years too old. The Chinese have now replaced the Japanese in your dad's statement.

hmm..
First off.. my bad for saying that American's produce quality.. I forgot that everyone has a grudge against us.
I guess I was wrong about saying the Japanese make cheap things.
But from what I can remember, a lot of things labled "Made in China" and etc. show poor quality. I guess because they can produce things fast, and cheap, they can throw the quality part out.

I remember that all my toys as a kid that were "Made in China" were terrible. (Maybe it was the designer's fault, who knows..)
I guess it's everyones fault for seeing that they can make more money, if they ship their business over seas..

I thought that everyone knew that the Chinese/Japanese were notorious for stealing idea's and then improving upon them. (Of course the BMW still looks better.)

I will have to admit though, they are very good at what they do.
I don't know of any other countries that have mastered the assembly line as well as they have. I guess they are slowly improving on quality, but people still care more about producing things as fast as they can, for the least amount of money.

Anyways.. I guess what i'm trying to say is..
The Japanese/Chinese have great technology, can produce things well, and are years ahead of pretty much everyone..
But what they lack is Design, Imagination, Creativity, Artistry, Craftsmanship, Ingenuity.
They rely on others for that.

I guess it would be like asking someone to paint some masterpiece.
Then asking them to do something similar..
They would just invent a robot that could mimic the other persons painting flawlessly..

/Prepares to be flamed, called biased, and told that I have a grudge against the Japanese/Chinese..
Please try not to attack the person, attack the argument.
Also try not to be biased, keep your mind open to ideas..

i remember watching an accord commercial where they show the car in motion from the side and i kept wondering if it was a 5 series. You can always count on Toyota to mimic Mercedes and Honda to mimic BMW.

Hey, a loaded EX w/V6 is easily over $30k, so its more like two Accords to a 5'er.

I just saw a truck load of new accords on the highway the other day and didn't even think for a second it resembled a 5. I dunno maybe it will look better on the road with a license plate on, but on the truck they looked weird. I like the previous model Accords much better.

I still like the coupe with the long tail light across the back. I think it was around 2000 or something.

I'd take those 3 Accords, set them up as taxi cabs and stay with my E90, then, with the money from the cabs, I'll buy an M3. LOL,... I mean, I would never change from BMW to Honda,... I've had both and I wouldn't, however, still a very reliable car (IMO it will be more functional as a money producing cab.)
